“Whatever Happens will Happen ” : United Target Quoted refusing to rule out a move to United this summer

According to various sources, Manchester United are interested in signing 29 year old West Ham star forward Marko Arnautovic who shined for the Hammers this season and was the lone spark in an otherwise disappointing season for West Ham.

The Austrian Striker was fairly quiet in the first half of the season gathering only 2 assists till December but upped his game between December and May scoring 11 and setting up 6 more in 22 games in that time frame.

West ham’s official stance on the transfer however is that he is not for sale as new manager Manuel Pellegrini is interested in working with the former Stoke man again as he plans for a top 7 finish in his first season with the East London side. They have reportedly placed a 50 million pound valuation on Arnautovic in a bid to ward off interest from United.

He’s been a subject of interest from Jose Mourinho in recent weeks as the Portugese tactician was spotted scouting him on international duty recently as Arnautovic set up the only goal of the game against Russia ahead of the World Cup.

The 6 foot 3 inch Austrian generally plays on the left wing but is equally comfortable playing on the right or through the middle. He is a player that has promised so much but has been dogged by indiscipline and inconsistent play though his first season with West Ham saw some exciting displays of his quality and could be a sign of things to come in the future.

Arnautovic has previously worked with Mourinho in 2009 at Inter Milan ableit very briefly in an unsuccessful loan spell from FC Twente and was subsequently moved to Werder Bremen in 2010.

When asked about Mourinho’s recent attendance at the match against Russia he was quoted as saying

“It is a great honor for our entire team that a coach like Mourinho is watching us”,

which was not exactly dismissive of the rumors.

And more over adding further fuel to the fire, Marko Arnautovic was quoted recently refusing to rule out a move away from the hammers by saying :

‘I am happy with my job. Whatever happens will happen. I’ve never heard anything,’

 -Arnautovic told Sky Austria.

‘Even three weeks ago I haven’t heard anything. That’s why I cannot say anything about it.

‘The only thing that bothers me is that I am in good health and that I am able to play football.

Mourinho is looking to add another dimension to United’s attack which lacked direct play and often looked one dimensional last season.

A 60 million price tag is maybe a little too much for a player like Arnautovic who is 29 years old and has not been consistent and has a problem of indiscipline.

With players like Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford in the squad he is probably not going to get much game time. Though if he does end up signing for the Red Devils it could help Arnautovic by providing him with Champions League football as well as United providing them with a plethora of options going forward and at last a proper back up for the lone striker Romelu Lukaku.
