Decoding Arsenal’s Winning Formula …. What Is The Secret Behind Arsenal Run Of Form

Emery on training and Xhaka

What a week of first it has been for the Gunners. Arsenal seem to have found a winning formula, as they have now gone on a 9 game winning streak.

At Azerbaijan in the midweek, against Qarabag in the Europa league, The Gunners had 3 first time scorers on the score sheet. First, just 5 minutes into the game, Papasthadopolus Sokratis put The Gunners ahead with a sublime effort. This was his first goal for Arsenal, ever since his transfer from Borussia Dortmund in August.

Next, Emile Smith Rowe etched his name on The Gunners’ list of scorers, with his strike for the second goal of the game. Although much praise should be reserved for Alex Iwobi, who provided the assist. However, most notable is the fact that this was his first professional goal for the senior team, since the start of the season.

Last but certainly not least, Matteo Guendouzi rubbed some gloss on the scoreline and outing with a strike of his own, to make it 3-0l in the closing stages of the game. This was his first goal in Arsenal colors as well.

At this point, Arsenal was already on a 8 game winning streak, which was the first of its kind, since April 2016.

Nonetheless, The Gunners were not done with their fiesta of firsts, as they claimed another victory at the weekend over Fulham at Craven Cottage, to make it 9 straight wins for the first time since April 2015. During the match, Arsenal became the first club in the Premier League Era, to have multiple substitutes come on, score and provide assists in one single game.

Moving on from “firsts”, Aaron Ramsey’s goal haven just come on from the bench is nothing short of exquisite and a definite contender for Goal of Season.

Here is a picture map of Ramsey’s goal;

This third goal of the game at Craven Cottage clearly showed the design behind Unai Emery’s tactical approach and style.

Furthermore, fringe players like Alex Iwobi, Danny Welbeck and even starters like Petr Cech and Hector Bellerin have all shown tremendous improvement in their games.

Here is a quote from Alexander Iwobi’s interview, on his view about the game, at arsenal.com;

“It was a tough start. Fulham came out and started well, but then they conceded. The manager picked us up at half-time.

The team spirit is better. The confidence is definitely better. We analyze the games a bit more and we’re proving to the fans as well as ourselves that we’re able to compete for the title…”

Next up is Leicester City at The Emirates after the International Break, which is scheduled for the 22nd of this month.

Anyone else perplexed by Aaron Ramsey’s refusal to join in the celebration of Alexandre Lacazette’s opener, with other teammates on the bench, as well as his own celebration for that sublime third goal?
