According to reports from talkSPORT, Gunners are just a step away from signing the Belgian star Yannick Carrasco from Chinese side Dalian Yifang. The winger is highly rated by Unai Emery and Arsenal club fans.
Yannick Carrasco, former Atletico Madrid star, moved to China in February 2018 for a reported fee of €30 million. The player snubbed Gunners and signed for the Chinese Super League side which offered him higher wages.
However, the player was starved of game time and did not adjust to the surroundings. Citing the family reason, Carrasco wants a move back to Europe and Gunners are leading the race to sign the 25-year-old star.
Dating back to the January transfer window of 2019, Unai Emery tried very hard to sign Yannick Carrasco for the Gunners. However, the Spaniard was put off by the asking price of €30 million for the Belgian. This resulted in Arsenal signing Denis Suarez on loan from FC Barcelona, who has been a total flop.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Yannick Carrasco has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal. After spending one and a half years in China, the Belgian wants to quit the Asian country and return to Europe.
Moreover, Carrasco wants to stay close to his family by playing in Europe. He previously told the media that “one club was interested in signing him”. However, he did not reveal the name of the club which tried to lure him away.
To the media, he stated:
“I want to go back to Europe,”
One team is interested in me but I can’t say which one and in which league.
But hopefully my team in China can help me come back to Europe”
Even though Arsenal are just a step away from signing the player, Unai Emery knows that he has only €40 million to spend. The manager has to be very savvy when it comes to signing the player.
It remains interesting if the ‘one club’ is Arsenal or any other club. Also, the lack of Champions League action might work against the Gunners.
With Mesut Ozil failing to perform in the much-required and important games, Arsenal is looking to bolster their squad by signing good players who don’t require heavy investments. With the club looking for a revamp, Unai Emery wants Yannick Carrasco as one of his prime transfer targets.
