Josh Kroenke Hints At Possibility Of BIG Departures Before The Transfer Window Closes

Josh Kroenke, Kroenke, Arsenal

It was due to lack of interaction between himself and the footballing world that Arsenal‘s majority shareholder, Stan Kroenke was dubbed ‘Silent Stan’ by the masses. But it seems like his son is quite vocal regarding his ambitions about the club.

Josh Kroenke is slowly becoming a ray of hope for the Gooners as he vocalises where he wants to take the club. The club vice-chairman started rubbing off on the fans ever since his preseason interview where he foreshadowed the amazing window the Gunners have had. But what sets him apart from his father is his involvement with the London outfit; it seems like Josh has done more in a year than Stan ever did.

Positively, it looks like Kroenke Jr. has continued his involvement, evident from his interview with BBC Sport’s David Ornstein where he discussed transfers and shed light into the personnel changes in the first-team squad.

“I would defer to our football operations staff but I know there are a few names that have come up who might not see as much playing time this season,” Kroenke told BBC Sport. “So whether that’s via loan or permanent transfer I know there are discussions going on. I’ll leave that to our football operations staff.

“So from a player’s perspective, whether it’s good or bad news I think the best thing you can do is be honest with the player because they’ve only got a limited window where they can be at their physical peak.

“I would say whatever we’re doing we’re going to be aggressive and we’re going to be decisive, and we’re going to communicate well and honestly through it all,” he added.

The American also responded to being asked if the club’s spending would continue to be aggressive by saying:

“That’s hopefully a sign of encouragement for Arsenal fans that, when we’re out in the market place, you might never know what we’re thinking and you could be surprised by some of the names that come up.”

“As for January, I don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. We’ve got to evaluate some things in the short term and figure out where we might need to address going forward, so when January does roll around we’re going to be proactive again.”

From what the vice-chairman said, it is clear that some of the players might still depart London and they will be replaced soon enough. There have been numerous rumours regarding the departure of Shkodran Mustafi and Mohamed Elneny and Josh may have been hinting at such cases.

The English giants have always found themselves harbouring deadwood but now they seem to be proactively offloading them. Furthermore, it is finally a relief to the Arsenal faithful that the majority shareholders are finally getting up close and personal with the club.
