Manchester United have zeroed in on Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie as a potential target in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to reports. The Red Devils could face competition for the midfielder’s services from other Premier League clubs.
Weston McKennie started his football journey at the youth club of FC Phoenix Otterbach in 2004. He joined the FC Dallas academy in 2009 and played there before joining Schalke in 2016. He played for the German club’s U19 team for one year before getting promoted to the senior team.
The American initially joined Juventus on a season-long loan in the summer of 2020, but the club decided to make the move permanent in March 2021. After plying his trade with the Old Lady for two-and-a-half years, he moved to Leeds United in January 2023 on an initial six-month loan deal that included the option to make the transfer permanent.
However, the 25-year-old returned to Turin at the end of the season after the Yorkshire outfit’s relegation to the Championship. Despite his unsuccessful loan stint with Leeds, having made just 1 assist in 19 appearances, he has revived himself this season.
Now, according to Give Me Sport, Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie in a shock move this summer. The Red Devils are looking to revitalize their midfield due to their subpar performances this season and earmarked the American as a potential transfer option.
After returning from his brief stint in the Premier League, he has become a vital cog for the Bianconeri this season. He has made 10 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions and his productive run of form have steered the attention of Man United boss Erik ten Hag.

The USMNT international is set to enter the last 12 months of his contract, which ends in the summer of 2025. The GMS report claims that the Old Lady are prepared to sell Weston McKennie this summer to cash in on his value if they fail to negotiate a new deal and Manchester United could strike a deal for as low as £15 million.
However, the Red Devils could face competition from other PL clubs, despite his low experience of playing in the English top-flight. As per the report, Arsenal are keeping an eye on the 25-year-old as a potential option. In addition, Aston Villa and Fulham are also keeping tabs on the midfielder.

The American is quite proficient in playing multiple positions like wing-back, deep-lying defensive midfielder, and box-to-box midfielder. His versatility could prove to be a highly beneficial factor for the Red Devils, with Ten Hag facing a shortage of midfield options this season due to injuries.
Moreover, the addition of Weston McKennie to Manchester United could be a boost for the team’s midfield energy. He is highly-motivated to prove himself as a top player, looking to showcase his talent and prove his worth in the big leagues. Therefore, he could be eager to embark on a fresh challenge in the Premier League again.
