Man United to Launch Bid for €60m Rated Brazilian Centre-back, Club Ready to Pay Release Clause for Serie A Star

According to reports in Italy, Manchester United have already made contact with Juventus defender Gleison Bremer and are willing to pay the club’s asking price for the player. Revitalising an ageing backline is the main priority for the Red Devils this summer and the Brazilian sits on the top of their wishlist.

Manchester United are about to enter a pivotal summer transfer window under Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The new co-owner is looking to overhauls the club’s transfer policy to close the gap with Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal. He is inclined to creating a strong quality squad capable of sustaining in the long-term and only wants to bring in players that fit with the club’s ethos.

The hunt for the right talents is running at full fledge at Old Trafford and the INEOS chief has already began shortlisting players. He wants to strengthen all areas of the pitch, but revamping the defence line seems to be his first order of business.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Manchester have opened talks with Juventus to discuss a potential deal to sign centre-back Gleison Bremer in the upcoming summer transfer window. The club have already contacted the player’s representatives over a move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are willing to pay the asking price for the Brazilian defender, as per the report. The 27-year-old has a €60m release clause in his contract with the Bianconeri and the Premier League side are ready to pay the amount to secure his services.

Gleison Bremer has been on the radar of Manchester United for quite some time. Previously, the English club had planned to acquire the defender’s services for less and were preparing a €50m offer, as reported by Daily Express, but are now willing to pay the player’s release clause.

The Serie A giants recently signed a new contract with the South American centre-back in December. However, they are inclined to discuss a possible exit, given the financial situation of the Turin club. Additionally, the club are looking to sign Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori this summer and the Brazilian’s exit would fund this transfer.

Player Profile

Gleison Bremer started his senior career at Atletico Mineiro in 2017. His performances earned him a transfer to Italian side Torino in 2018, signing a five-year deal with the club. His charismatic performance in the 2021-22 season earned him Serie A’s Best Defender of the Season award.

In the summer of 2022, the 27-year-old signed for Juventus in a deal worth around £38m. He joined on a five-year deal replacing Matthijs de Ligt at the heart of defence. Since moving to Turin, the defender has been a standout performer for the Bianconeri.

His importance to the Italian side has grown since then and he has cemented his place in the starting XI, having already made 75 appearances for the club across all competitions. His performances has been a prime factor in Juventus standing at 3rd position in the league.

The centre-back made his debut for the Brazil national team in September 2022. The Brazilian has also been named in the Serie A Team of the Year for the last two consecutive seasons. His strength, speed and aerial prowess makes him a brilliant defender and a no-brainer signing for Manchester United
