Manchester United drew 1-1 with Burnley in the Premier League at Old Trafford last Saturday. The Red Devils took the lead in the second half through Antony, but the Clarets equalized within eight minutes, via a penalty, to earn an away point.

Manchester United remained on sixth position in the league table with 54 points from 34 matches, while Burnley are stuck in the relegation zone with 24 points from 35 matches. Let us now take a look at three key takeaways from the match:
1. Manchester United Failed To Exert Their Dominance Fully
The Red Devils once again struggled to exert their supremacy against a less-fancied side. The Clarets went toe-to-toe with the home side for the majority of the game. In fact, the visitors finished the match with 53% ball-possession. However, United had more shots at the opposition goal.
Antony scored only his third goal of the season, but his joy was short-lived, as Vincent Kompany’s team managed to equalize soon. United had a few decent scoring chances, but could not manage to breach the opposition defence more than once.

Still, the Brazilian’s goal will satisfy United manager Erik ten Hag to an extent. The much-maligned winger has received a lot of flak this season, and the goal is bound to give him some confidence.
2. Burnley Stayed Afloat With A Vital Point
The Clarets tried to have ball-possession with their neat passing game, which was quite refreshing to watch. Nevertheless, they are still threatened with relegation, with 17th-placed Nottingham Forest being two points ahead of them with a match in hand.
Burnley could have scored more goals on the day, but the profligacy of their forwards, coupled with some quality saves from Manchester United keeper Ande Onana, did not allow them to do so. However, earning an away point against the Red Devils can be called a satisfactory result.

The draw at Old Trafford should give the Clarets some confidence ahead of their remaining matches. It might boost their morale and propel them to get some crucial wins which ends up helping them to stay in the Premier League next season.

3. United Will Find It Extremely Tough To Finish Inside The Top-Five
Erik ten Hag’s men are six points adrift of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have one match in hand. Hence, one can safely conclude that the Red Devils will not be able to finish inside the top-five this season.
They will thus miss out on UEFA Champions League action next season. Considering the fact that they still have matches against Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United left, the Red Devils might find it tough to qualify for next season’s Europa League too. It remains to be seen how the season pans out for them.
