Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero will be leaving the Etihad at the end of the season after spending 10 years at the club. The press have made the obvious link between Mikel Arteta and Sergio Aguero as if his transfer at the age of 32 is a done deal but can Arsenal find room for him and pay him what he wants? That’s the big question.
Aguero is a fabulous player and City won’t be able to replace that type of player in a hurry, they aren’t readily available. 181 goals in 271 appearances is a fabulous statistic, that’s a goal every 1.49 matches but it’s the quality that he brings, the touch, and the awareness that has made him a standout player and one of the best imports to the Premier League.

He is intelligent, mobile, and can score or assist by finding space that wasn’t even there. Often compared to Carlos Tevez due to his build but far superior in terms of skill, Aguero was key to City’s re-emergence and success. Would he fit the Arsenal profile? Absolutely.
He’s mobile and nibble, forget the age, he’s got plenty of goals left in him, and if Arsenal can get themselves a playmaker in the shape of an Odegaard, Buendia, or Fekir, 25 goals in a season is easily achievable for the Manchester City striker.

Aguero is said to earn £230,000 per week which could be a stumbling block with the Gunners looking to trim back their outgoings, but his inclusion in the squad could bring real potency in attack, something that has been scrappy at best this season.
The relationship between Mikel Arteta and Sergio Aguero could help the deal go through but would the striker fit into the rebuild plans. It’s an intriguing question.
