Laurent Koscielny’s Arsenal career is dead and buried. It was officially over after his refusal to join the squad on its pre season tour of the US but there was still a glimmer of hope that he would remain at the club for one last season. The news came as a shock for a majority of Arsenal fans as Koscielny was always regarded highly by them for his great service to the club in tough days.

That hope was extinguished when Unai Emery told his employers to transfer Koscielny as soon as possible. Emery has no time for militants with personal agendas, so the eject button was pushed. Many reports said that Koscielny was seeking legal help to resolve the issue.
Apparently, Arsenal have now entered negotiations with Rennes to strike a deal but it will need a compromise because Arsenal’s original fee of £8m was an angry reaction to a petulant employee. What makes situation worse is that Koscielny is club captain which puts the club in a very bad picture.
Koscielny, who is most likely to move to a Ligue 1 club, was bought from FC Lorient in 2010 and was handed the number 6 jersey straightaway which was previously worn by Philippe Senderos.

Edu is said to be trying to facilitate both sides but the asking price will have to have dropped significantly to make it happen. The situation will best be resolved away from prying eyes, behind closed doors and if the fee remains undisclosed. Bordeaux also seemed to be interested in the Koscielny and are reported to be in talks with his agent.
With just under two weeks left until the transfer window closes, Arsenal need to offload Koscielny to focus on their own targets in the market, which will consist of at least one central defender and a left back with Monreal seemed to be hit by the age factor and Kolasinac not reliable at all when it comes to tracking back and defending.
Koscielny could go for as little as £2.5/£3m and the lower end of that scale would be more realistic for a player who regularly is on the treatment room or in the bench with some really unfortunate injuries faced by him in his 10 year long Arsenal career.

One can fully expect a deal to be done this week or early next week, which will come as a relief to both parties and conclude what has been an unsavoury end to the club and players association.
