According to reports in Italy, Man United have made the initial approach to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer. The Red Devils want to bring in a new midfielder in the upcoming transfer window and the Frenchman has been identified as a potential target.
Adrien Rabiot began his senior football career at Paris Saint-Germain after graduating from their youth academy in 2012. The midfielder played for the Ligue 1 club till 2019, making 227 appearances while scoring 24 goals (stats via Transfermarkt). He also spent a six-month loan stint at Toulouse in 2013 during his time at PSG.
In July 2019, the 29-year-old joined Serie A giants Juventus on a free transfer. He signed a four-year deal with the Italian side, which ended last summer, but he signed a one-year contract extension with the club until 2024. He becomes a free agent this summer which allows him to negotiate with any club he wants.
Now, as reported by Tutto Juve (via Football Talk), Man United are considering signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer this summer. Although no formal approach has been made yet, the English side could make a move over the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, according to Caught Offside (via GMS), the Red Devils have initiated contact with the French midfielder to discuss a potential deal this summer. The club have held talks to secure a potential bargain deal, with the player’s current deal with the Old Lady due to expire at the end of this month.
United have been following the Frenchman for quite some time now and they tried to bring the midfielder to Old Trafford a couple of years ago. However, a deal couldn’t be agreed between the two parties due to the player’s exorbitant wage demands and the move didn’t materialise.

The Red Devils finished this season on a positive note by lifting the FA Cup trophy. However, their consistent struggles and sub-par performances from the players were visible throughout the season, especially in the midfield. Even the presence of experienced players like Christian Eriksen and Casemiro couldn’t stop the downfall.
Casemiro and Eriksen performed well in their debut 2022-23 season with the club, but they failed to replicate their performance this season. Now, it is being reported that both the players could be sold this summer with the club planning a major revamp of the squad.
Adrien Rabiot could prove to be a shrewd signing for Man United. The 29-year-old is strong, experienced, skillful, and has a great physique, necessary attributes to flourish in the Premier League. He is a talented player and has already showcased his abilities at the highest level.

However, signing the France international would be a difficult task. With the midfielder available for a free transfer this summer, the Red Devils will face competition from other major European clubs. The report claims that PL rivals Newcastle United are very keen on signing him.
Nevertheless, Man United would be worried about another midfield signing not working out for them. The club have failed to replace the likes of Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick. They have spent loads of money on players like Paul Pogba, Fred, and others to make the midfield work, but to no avail. The Red Devils will not want another midfielder, brought in on high wages, to flop.
