£89 mil World Cup Winner Reportedly Reveals Interest in Manchester United Deal

Pogba

Paul Pogba has made a ‘stunning U-turn’ and is now eager to commit his long-term future to Manchester United, according to reports.

Despite returning to the club just 3 years ago, Pogba already looked set to leave the club last summer. The Frenchman and former manager Jose Mourinho fell out midway through last season, and it caused the start of a huge internal war at United.

All of a sudden, rumors about a potential move to Barcelona began to surface. Pogba flirted with the idea for a while, and with the unrest in the dressing room continuing to grow, he looked destined to leave. Reports suggested that he would have left United during the current window had Mourinho still been in charge.

He wasn’t alone. A number of key players, including Anthony Martial and David de Gea, wanted to leave the club. However, ever since Mourinho got sacked and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made an emotional return, life at the club could not be better.

It is said to be a happy camp once more, and several players who were desperate to leave are now eager to stay. Martial and De Gea are rumored to have already begun discussions over new deals. Pogba now looks eager to join them into committing his long-term future to the club.

The midfielder still has over two years left to run on his current deal with the club, so there is no rush to begin negotiations. However, according to The Sun, the 25-year-old is eyeing a massive pay rise. He is already on an eye-watering £290,000-a-week at the moment, but is looking to match the club’s top earner, Alexis Sanchez, in terms of wages. Sanchez earns around £350,000-a-week, rising to around £505,000 including sponsorship deals.

On the pitch, the World Cup winner is going through one of his best spells of form for the club. He has 10 goals and 10 assists to his name this season, with 5 of those goals coming in his last 5 games. It is an incredible upturn in form for a player who just a month or two ago was branded a ‘virus‘ by his former manager.

An Old Trafford source said:

“Pogba’s agent is ready to end the problems he has had with the club over the last few months.

“He wasn’t over much towards the end of last year. There was a big breakdown of relationships while Mourinho was in charge.

“Raiola wants to talk about his clients ongoing future when all the January business is concluded, which won’t be too much.

“There were talks over whether he would go, but there is no chance of that. He looks like he’s the happiest he has been in a long time.”
