The Wolves Out Played And Out Classed The Gunners At The Molineux Stadium

Wolves, Arsedevils, Wolves Vs Arsenal

There have been a few occasions this season where Arsenal have looked clueless and ordinary. They have been outclassed and out fought and have rolled over without offering an ounce of fight but if I’m honest, the game against Wolves was the worst performance of the season and there have been a few.

Arsenal lacked ingenuity, creativity and desire against a sparkling Wolves side that have added so much to the premiership during their short time in it. Infact such has been impact of their performances in their first season back that punters all around the world including us casinos are offering incredible odds on wolves featuring in the europa league next season.

Arsenal are terrible when teams deprive them of time and space. They seize up and become a third rate team bereft of ideas, searching for miracles. Wolves had plenty to offer in attack and defence and they played Arsenal like a banjo for almost the entire game.

The Gunners were at best boring, passing sideways and back, sideways and back, all night long to the point where it was painful to watch.

I actually got to the point where the result was already out and I just wanted to hear the whistle, such was the dire nature of this inept offering. The only trouble with that was the other 45 minutes still left to played in the game.

Arsenal lacked penetration but worse than that, they lacked ideas. Only Iwobi and Maitland-Niles seemed bothered as the Gunners handed the lion’s share of possession without actually doing anything with it.

The left wing seemed to feature heavily in the first 20 minutes with good work from Monreal and Iwobi. Maitland-Niles contributed on the other flank but whichever route the ball went down, there was no end product.

Wolves were settling into the game and it was soon clear that it was only a matter of time before they hit their stride and with each foray forward, they became more confident with a goal looking more likely.

When it came, it was from the most perfect free kick by Ruben Neves (28′) which cleared the wall and left Leno scrambling. Matt Doherty added a second with a header in the 37th minute and Arsenal were finally finished off by Jota (42’+2′) just before the half time whistle after another defensive misunderstanding.

I’m sure we can squeeze that phrase into the text again before the season ends because it’s become a weekly occurrence and Mustafi wasn’t even there.

This is starting to sound like TS Elliot’s ‘Macavity’; ‘For when they reach the scene of the crime Mustafi’s not there’.

The towering, ginger German should consider himself highly fortunate that Emery spared him from this farce or he would have merited even more criticism, although, this season’s has been richly deserved.

Arsenal’s chances of making the top four are dwindling fast with more difficult games ahead, so if the Europa League campaign ends in failure, that’s that my friends.

I’ve been writing about historical errors within the club. The lack of depth, quality and investment all season, which are now in danger of ending another campaign with nothing to show for it.

If, in the summer Emery doesn’t get sufficient funds, he’d be tempted to quit. He’s extremely talented and could do a decent job anywhere without struggling to this extent.

Since the move to the Emirates, the club has taken in huge profits from transfers, none of which made it back into the team, Therefore, now Kroenke owes us one or we’ll have more of this nonsense to look forward to.

The Highbury Flyer
Anti Kroenke , anti Gazidis but always a gooner. Still wishes he could watch from the stands at the Highbury library.
