Arsenal reject £50m bid for Alexis Sanchez from Manchester City

Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal have rejected a huge £50m bid tabled by Manchester City for Alexis Sanchez according to reports from BBC Sports.

Manchester City are expected to make an improved bid for Alexis Sanchez  on Wednesday after having an opening cash offer of £50 million for the Chile forward rejected by Arsenal.

It is being widely reported that the Gunners heirarchy are pushing for Raheem Sterling to be included as part of the deal in an effort to secure a replacement before the transfer window shuts on thursday.

[spacer height=”30px”]

City believe that a higher offer of £70m will be enough to persuade the Gunners into selling their prized asset as his contract expires at the end of this season and will effectively be able to agree deals with other clubs from January.

The report also states that the former Liverpool winger is interested in moving to his home city of London should he be allowed to leave for Arsenal.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Arsenal were reported to have initially enquired about taking Aguero in return for Sanchez but senior City decision makers are vehemently opposed to the idea of letting Aguero leave.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Guardiola himself has refused to let the Argentinian striker leave and is also not happy about the idea of parting ways with Sterling although Manchester City are yet to guage Arsenals interest in the England international.

A report from the Daily Mail suggests that a meeting was held at the training camp after the loss to Liverpool in which it was agreed that the players who wish to leave will be allowed to do so as long as their valuation is met.

[spacer height=”30px”]

This has led to Arsenal agreeing a fee for Alex Oxlade Chamberlain with Chelsea.

[spacer height=”30px”]

This had led to Wenger and his coaching staff reportedly agreeing to allow Alexis Sanchez to leave provided that are able to bring in an replacement and their valuation of the player is met.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Previously Wenger has denied with conviction any report of Alexis Sanchez leaving or having asked to leave in this window saying :

[spacer height=”30px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]

“Has he asked to leave? No, My mind has been made up for a while now. I think I’ve made it clear a few times that he is not for sale and this is my stance. [spacer height=”20px”] “There’s always something that comes in. If it’s not Sanchez then it’s me, but I think Sanchez has got one year to go and we have no need to make money. [spacer height=”20px”] “He will be part of the team next year and after that I can understand it. But you don’t want to write that but that’s a version I can give you. [spacer height=”20px”] “We are in a strong financial situation so we want to keep our best players.” [spacer height=”30px”]

[/perfectpullquote]

There are reports also emerging that Alexis Sanchez had asked the Chile National team coach permission to leave the training camp in order to facilitate his much desired move to Pep Guardiola’s team.

[spacer height=”30px”]

But the President of Chilean FA then came out to categorically deny those reports as utterly false.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Judging by the way this window is turning out to be I wouldn’t be surprised to see weirder things happen that Sanchez moving to City.

[spacer height=”30px”]

I want Alexis Sanchez to stay this season even if we end up losing him for free at the end of the season buts thats only if he stays and performs like the 30 goal scorer of last season.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Wenger has always come out in favour of Alexis Sanchez performing at his best and his passion for football trumping his desire to to move to a Champions League Club.

[spacer height=”30px”]

That is something i believe to be the case too that if he stays he will play and let his insatiable desire for playing football bring out the best in him and the team.

[spacer height=”30px”]

I hope that he does’t leave but if he does which is quite possible in this market. I would like to see a better replacement such as Thomas Lemar rather than the 22 year old Raheem Sterling.

Till the next Update
