Transfer Scenarios With a Dash of Imagination and a Sprinkle of Bravado That Would Help Get Arsenal Back on Track

All is not lost in this transfer window, Mikel Arteta can still get what he wants if the Arsenal board support him with players he needs. There’s even a way to keep Aubameyang and land Thomas Partey, but Arsenal will have to offload some assets to do so.

Players that could go in the summer are Kolasinac (£14m), Sokratis (£13m), Guendouzi (£36.4m), Torreira (£32m), Mustafi (£8m), Lacazette (£43.2m), Mavropanos (£5m), and Chambers (£13m). That’s almost £165m which is enough to buy Thomas Partey and Carlos Soler at a combined total of around £90m.

They could then secure the services of Willian on a free, which is still a possibility. I have my reservations here because Chelsea have foisted some crap onto the Gunners in recent years, but Willan could buck a trend.

Bare with me, it gets trickier, they then have to offload Mesut Ozil by reducing the £15m transfer fee and to get him to agree to a hefty wage cut. Yes, that’s the problem, isn’t it? Both parties aren’t going to accommodate each other, not after his treatment under Emery.

Anyway, let’s persist with this imaginative train of thought and apply some much needed common sense to reduce Ozil’s fee to an affordable level which could potentially facilitate the German’s departure. This being the case, Aubameyang could easily be classed as value for money and given a decent wage increase to help him resign.

Arteta would still have a blend of youth and experience with Martinelli, Nketiah, and John-Jules developing as Aubameyang’s understudy and eventual replacement.

In the middle, there’s Willock, Smith Rowe, Smith (Matt) Cottrell, and my recommendation, Miguel Azeez. At the back, there’s still the untapped talent of Medley, Swanson, Ballard and McGuinness, Bola, Clarke, and Omole.

There is the making of a good Arsenal team, but Arteta knows that he’s searching the transfer window for a blend to fit his style of play which can only be achieved with individuals that work and run hard in attack and defence. A side that have the ability and creativity to provide a threat via his strikers but, he also needs a determined group of players that can show flair or grind out results when needed.
