Arsenal Agrees New and Improved Contract With €30m Rated Defender, Ben White Next in Line, Official Announcements Pending

Takehiro Tomiyasu, new Arsenal contract

According to fresh reports in England, Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has agreed a new contract with the club. The Japanese’s earlier deal was due to expire in 2025, and it seems the Gunners didn’t want to take a chance on their defender.

The North Londoners have been in phenomenal form since the turn of the new year, with an 8-match winning streak in the league. They currently stand at the top of the Premier League table with 64 points in 28 matches. Although level on points with second-placed Liverpool, Mikel Arteta’s men boast a big goal difference, having scored 33 goals in the last 8 games.

The Gunners keep working towards strengthening the squad in order to keep challenging for trophies in the coming years. In this sense, extending the contracts of important players with revised terms and payouts and continuing to retain their services has been a key objective for the Gunners hierarchy over the past 3 years.

Arsenal Agrees New Contract With Takehiro Tomiyasu

As reported by The Mirror, Arsenal have agreed a new contract with defender Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Japanese right-back still had a year left in his present contract with the North London side, but has reached an agreement to sign a new four-year deal.

The report claims that the 25-year-old’s salary will be doubled after extending his stay at the club for the next four years. The Japanese full-back will get a hike from £50,000 to £100,000 per week and this extension clearly indicates his importance to Mikel Arteta.

Tomiyasu has become an important cog in Arteta’s squad since making his move from Bologna to the Emirates in August 2021. However, he is yet to play for the Gunners in 2024, having suffered an injury while playing for Japan in the Asian Cup campaign last month.

Ben White To Follow Suit

After Takehiro Tomiyasu, it’s Ben White who is expected to sign a new contract at Arsenal. The defender already has a contract valid up to the summer of 2026 but, it seems Arteta wants to secure the Englishman’s services for a longer period. White is naturally a centre-back who is also great at playing right-back which makes him an even more valuable player for the Spanish manager.
