Time For Ryan Giggs To Do A Zinedine Zidane at Manchester United ?

Giggs next United manager

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is facing wide criticism for playing boring football, not being able to win major trophies despite heavy spendings and the very recent fallout with key players. So is it time for a new manager at United? Has the breaking point of tolerance crossed? And is sacking the Portuguese the only way to go for The Red Devils? Even if United sack him is there any man who can lead this team back to its golden days?

Well, there are two major names popping out from the rumor mill to be the next United manager and they are former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and former Manchester United and Wales legend Ryan Giggs.

Zidane recently left the Los Blancos after guiding them to 3 consecutive UEFA Champions League titles. While Ryan Giggs started his managerial career as a player-coach under the then newly appointed United manager David Moyes, but on the latter’s sacking Giggs was appointed as an interim manager. He then spent a season as assistant manager to the new manager Louis van Gaal.

Giggs was expected to be the next permanent manager at the Old Trafford but he left the club after the appointment of Jose Mourinho, following Louis van Gaal getting sacked. He was earlier this year appointed as Wales National team’s manager.

Zidane has so far been the favorite to take over the job. The fact that having seen Zidane do something similar with Real Madrid has getting fans excited by the prospect of having a former player managing the side and who better than the one of the integral members of the Golden Days of the club, Ryan Giggs.

He already has a taste of being a manager in a short stint at United manager role and now as Wales manager. Giggs has always preferred attacking style of football both as a player and manager. This fact will surely interest the Red Devils fans as they have repeatedly shown disappointment in Mourinho’s defensive style of play.

Also, key players like Paul PogbaAlexis Sanchez and many more excel in such a style of football. Having played for a long time at the club he knows the club in and out so he won’t even take time to adjust. He has also played in the same team with some players which will help him in easily communicating with the players as well. The Welshman also has had a taste of almost every major club laurel possible which will give him the constant hunger to achieve the same as a manager as well.

The future of these two still depends on the fact if Jose Mourinho remains at the club. He has stayed pretty firm of the fact that he is fine at the club and he doesn’t plan to leave anywhere soon. For now, The Portuguese is still manager of the club as they struggle at 10th position in the Premier League and already out of League Cup.
