Arsenal Finally Agree Deal With Besiktas For Transfer Of World Cup Star

David Ospina, Arsenal keeper transfer to Turkey

A year ago, the goalkeeper situation at the Emirates was a total wreckage due to the lack of competition between the first two choices. Whilst the first choice keeper Petr Cech was heading into a steep decline, the other being David Ospina who performed no better.[spacer height=”30px”]

However, since the arrival of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, Ospina has fell further down the pecking order, behind Arsenal’s No. 1 and record signing goalkeeper. Thus, it’s only natural to assume the Columbian would be let go of.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Regardless of the bits of gossip that Cech may leave, all things considered, the Gunners are prepared to offload their second choice goalkeeper, Ospina. There are numerous clubs that reportedly want the Columbian International, Besiktas being the prominent ones as of now.[spacer height=”30px”]

The Turkish outfit sold their primary keeper, Fabri to Fulham for £5.3 million, and thus have shortlisted three goalkeepers including Ospina, Simon Mignolet and Harun Tekin, according to Turkish paper, AMK.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]The 29-year-old keeper had been keen on moving away from the North London club ever since the 2014 World Cup. The Columbian shot-stopper’s agent said,

“David has a contract for two more years with Arsenal but there is an archer, so it can be a complete cycle and if there are no options in Europe, Boca is a great option because it is within the 10 largest teams of the world.”[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Besiktas have offered a £2 million transfer fee for the Arsenal goalkeeper, which is the only thing that has stopped the deal from going through. The Londoners are supposedly asking for £7 million, which might seem to be expensive for a player who cannot even make it through the starting eleven for the Gunners.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]However, we have perceived how peculiar the transfer window has been throughout the years.[spacer height=”30px”]

Unai Emery‘s side want to sell the keeper on a permanent basis, but are not willing to take the offer put forth by the Turks. Despite Ospina being the main target, the Istanbul outfit are still looking for other options and using them as leverage. The Black Eagles have reportedly entered talks with Tekin and Mignolet though the out-of-favour Arsenal man still seems to be the favourite. It is still not clear which goalkeeper might sign for the Turkish club, though the one thing that is clear is that one of the three targets would sign for them in the coming weeks.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]There has been another rumour stating that the North Londoners are trying to land a move for Yann Sommer. One rumour leads to another; Cech leaving to join his former club Chelsea led to rumours about Sommer being targeted by the English giants. But now that the former Blues star has said that he has no intention to leave and instead wants to fight for his position, this story should be taken with a pinch of salt.[spacer height=”30px”]

Ospina is said to in any case require persuading, with the Super Lig cub taking note of the player’s needs “€4 million a season, while Besiktas are just eager to pay €3 million. If the dynamic keeper joins the Super Lig club it will be a great opportunity for him as he will be the first choice keeper for them. This would be a great opportunity for him to show his talent.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Alongside that, the Premier League side would also benefit from this deal, as the goalkeeper problems of the last campaign having been resolved by the arrival of Leno, and Cech being the probable second-choice keeper.[spacer height=”30px”]

Furthermore, the one player that may profit from this deal is Deyan Iliev who has been out since 2015 due to severe knee problem and had recently recovered. The youngster could potentially get his chance to showcase his talents as well.[spacer height=”30px”]
