Poland Vs Colombia: Check The Talking Points As Poland Hopes Are Crushed And Colombia Back On Track

Poland Vs Colombia, FIFA World Cup 2018

FIFA World Cup Group H | Poland Vs Colombia

After Colombia and Poland were both defeated in their opening group stage match, the Poland Vs Colombia fixture became a vital match for both the sides.

Poland lost to Senegal by a 2-1 margin while Colombia suffered 2-1 defeat at the hands of Japan. Neither would have wanted to go out of the FIFA World Cup 2018 from the group stage. Thus, a sense of urgency should have been present in both the sides but Poland showed none in yesterday’s Poland Vs Colombia match.

Colombia made a promising start to the Poland Vs Colombia match consistently testing the Polish defense. Their efforts were awarded in the 40th minute with a goal from Yerry Mina.

In the second half, they scored again in the 70th minute with a great finish from their captain Radamel Falcao. Soon enough, Colombia put the game to bed by taking a 3 goal lead in the 75th minute and defended pretty well to keep a clean sheet for themselves.

A Well Worked Corner-Kick:

Colombia were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after they pressurize the Polish defense continuously from the start. James Rodriguez took the corner with a short pass to Cuadrado who passed the ball to Quintero near the edge of the box. James again received the ball inside the box with a clever pass from Quintero. Yerry Mina headed the ball into the net with a great cross from the magical left foot of James Rodriguez.

The Attacking Quartet:

Colombia were boosted by the fact that there star player James Rodriguez was fully fit and included in the starting eleven for the Poland Vs Colombia match. Their attacking quartet of Juan Quintero, Juan Cuadrado, James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao were instrumental and made sure that the defeat they suffered in the last match at the hands of Japan would not affect their performances. They combined well and steered the Colombian team to a comprehensive victory with a score line of 3-0 against the Polish team.

The Back-line Of Colombia:

The Colombian defense were up to the task of matching the in-form striker Robert Lewandowski. They made sure that the Polish No.9 would not get any space and were always tight to the striker. The duo of Davinson Sanchez and Yerry Mina defended very well and made sure that any danger that came from the Polish side was dealt with.

Yerry Mina also contributed in the attack by scoring the opening goal from a very well worked corner kick. The fullbacks also made some darting runs providing some crosses into the box in the Poland Vs Colombia match.
