PREDICTED LINEUPS | Red Devils Face A Tough Test In Form Of Barcelona In Champions League Quarter Finals

Barcelona,, Arsedevils

Solskjaer was handed his first defeat of his permanent reign in his second game after the announcement. United have lost to the same opponents twice in their last three games which has been against Wolves, in the league as well as the FA Cup and now they face Barcelona in the Champions League at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer might be a little worried as to what is suddenly going wrong with the biggest month of his reign already knocking on the door. United face Barcelona twice within a week in the Champions League, Manchester City, Chelsea and Everton in the league and a possible Champions League semi final as well by the end of the month, should they progress.

As if the on field problems weren’t enough, the off pitch rumors have been running riot. De Gea is one of the prime candidates to leave in the summer if United don’t match the wages demanded by him.

Pogba has now asked for a new deal which would make him the club’s highest paid player amid interest from Real Madrid. Ander Herrera has reportedly agreed personal terms with PSG and will be departing in the summer. Juan Mata is discussing personal terms with Barcelona, with Arsenal also an interested candidate.

With all this and the upcoming summer transfer window, Solskjaer has a lot at his hands. And the club need to sort out everything one by one and fast. But the game against Barcelona will be crucial as to how United’s future goes in which direction.

Let’s take a look at the potential lineup that could start against the Spanish Giants at Old Trafford for Manchester United.

PREDICTED LINEUPS AGAINST BARCELONA

Goalkeeper: David De Gea

There is no doubt as to who starts one of the most important games of this season yet. Solskjaer has to field the best possible lineup against Barcelona and De Gea is at it’s tip.

Back Four: Ashley Young, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw

Even though Young was sent off in his last game he will start on Wednesday night against Barcelona as his experience will be crucial to face the Barcelona Frontline.

Smalling will start to partner Lindelof in the heart of the defense against the Catalans as they both go well as a duo and Lindelof was rested last mid week keeping this particular fixture in mind. There’s no doubt about one of the starters with Smalling considered as a prime contender to Bailly against Barcelona for the starting XI.

Luke Shaw will be waiting for undoubtedly the  game of the season as he’ll be taking on Messi from the left flank. He’s put many impressive performances this season by keeping some of the deadliest wingers in the division quiet and will be looking forward to the same against Barcelona.

Midfield Three: Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba

Matic is a definite starter against Barcelona  and he’s the best United have in that defensive midfield position as Barcelona will be more of an attacking threat with a formidable midfield.

Pogba will also be a definite name on the team sheet as he’s going to be crucial if United have any chance to beat Barcelona over the two legs. He has been excellent since Solskjaer’s arrival and will be continue to do the same and create and make a case for himself as to why he deserves the wages he’s demanding.

Scott McTominay has to be a definite starter, he impressed many critics and fans with his performance against Wolves and was our best player on the pitch, scoring our only goal. His efforts and hard work should reward him with a place in United’s midfield.

Front Three: Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial

Rashford and Martial both were rested against Wolves which makes them a definite and prime candidate to start in this crucial game against Barcelona. Both have seen their forms turn for the good and will be hopeful of giving a performance to be remembered by the United faithful.

Lukaku can be a tricky inclusion but his muscle and strength is needed to keep both the Barcelona defenders, Pique and Lenglet occupied. All three of them are capable of changing places between them, with Lukaku still in the learning process, but this particular quality will come very handy and can do wonders if used in a proper way.
