Zaha Priced Out Of The Market By Money Hungry Crystal Palace As Seems All Set To Stay In South London

Wilfred Zaha, welbeck replacement

If Wilfred Zaha is priced out of a move in this transfer window it will be because the majority of clubs interested in his services don’t believe the talent lives up to the price tag.

First Arsenal, then Everton made inquiries but it now seems both exit points are now closed with Arsenal upgrading with Nicolas Pepe and Everton testing Arsenal’s resolve to sign Alex Iwobi.

I didn’t see the toffee’s enquiry coming but it’s quite a clever move and although he’s arguably not as good as Zaha, he has penetrative qualities for others to feed off and will create drama in the box.

Okay, he’s not the finished article but he is growing with every season. Zaha has now put in an official transfer request to jolly things along but unless there’s an unexpected bid from another club, Zaha will be staying put.

Palace have only themselves to blame, the valuation of £80m was higher than Pepe and there’s no way that those two players are comparable.

There’s a feeling that Palace got carried away when watching the inflated market and decided to indulge themselves in the high stakes game of poker but Palace and Zaha went in blind.

It’s been a transfer that has been poorly managed from the outset and Zaha has hardly portrayed himself in a decent light after accepting an improved contract last season. Palace also set their stall out early hoping to reel in a mega deal but interest seemed to tail off dramatically.

With the clock ticking away and the player becoming restless, will there be a last minute twist in this saga ?  No, not unless Palace are realistic in their price and terms, because no one has the type of money Palace want as an upfront sum.

We wait to see what happens in the final hours of the window but it will take two things to make it happen. Palace will have to be realistic about their assets worth and the club looking to whisk him away, will need to cut a deal similar to the Pepe bombshell, which is by far the transfer of the summer.

Meanwhile as the summer transfer window is officially closed, Premier League back from this weekend with Liverpool vs Norwich city being the first game of the Match day One. Arsenal will face Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United at St. James Park and are expected to fire on all cylinders after a bumper transfer window.
