Arsenal Enter Race to Sign €50Million Rated Argentine Forward

Paulo Dybala, Arsenal, United

It was a disappointing January transfer window for the Arsenal fans. With so many links to several players, not one ended up arriving at the Emirates. Arsenal’s transfer activities only included making the squad light and securing the transfer of two MLS players, who will join at the end of the season. Therefore, the club are wasting no time to plan for the summer window, with reports suggesting that Arsenal have entered the race to sign Paulo Dybala from Juventus.

Juventus signed Dusan Vlahovic this January, who was at the top of Mikel Arteta’s wishlist. Arsenal failed to sign any forward and with Aubameyang leaving for Barcelona, the club are already short on proper strikers to complete this season.

Adding to this, Nketiah is unwilling to extend his contract, while the board have no wish to offer Lacazette any new contract. Both the strikers will leave the club on free this summer. Thus, Arsenal desperately require a goalscoring forward and are reportedly after Paulo Dybala.

According to 90Min, Arsenal are the latest club to show interest in Paulo Dybala. The Argentine forward has been offered to some other English clubs as well including the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea. Even Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are believed to be contacted by the 28-year-old’s representatives.

Dybala, who is out of contract in the summer, had initially agreed to a five-year deal with Juventus before Christmas. The deal was reported to be worth £6.7million per year. However, the Turin-based club changed the terms of the deal during January. This irked the former Palermo player and talks collapsed between the two.

Paulo Dybala arrived at Juventus from Palermo in 2015, for around £27million plus add-ons. He has appeared in 277 matches for the Italian club, with 111 goals and 46 assists to his name. This season, he has registered 7 goals and 4 assists in 18 Serie A games, while 3 goals and 1 assist in 4 Champions League games so far.

The 28-year-old forward can play in multiple positions, including right-wing, attacking midfielder, as well as a false nine striker. He has also gone on to represent Argentina in 31 games but was not a part of the squad that won the Copa America last summer.

At the moment, it seems very unlikely that Dybala will extend his contract with Bianconeri. His representatives are already contacting some of the European heavyweights and will continue to do so until they broker a deal before June.

However, the Premier League clubs are not sure if the Argentine forward will actually leave the Massimiliano Allegri-led side. He is Juventus’ vice-captain and has often led the team in the absence of Giorgio Chiellini. He is the current number 10 jersey holder at the Serie A club and is one of their most important players.

It would make sense for Arsenal to go after Paulo Dybala this summer, who could arrive on a free transfer. Mikel Arteta lacks a forward in his ranks, and Dybala can be that impactful player. However, securing Champions League football is vital in convincing the player to come to the Emirates. If the Gunners want to sign the player, the board should not waste time like the winter transfer window and get in touch with his representatives immediately to secure his signature.
