According to reports in England, Arsenal preparing a move to sign Columbus Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte this summer. Aaron Ramsdale could move away from the Emirates at the end of the season and the Gunners have identified the American shot-stopper as a potential replacement.
Initially, Patrick Schulte played college football at Saint Louis University for three seasons from 2019-2021. He also made nine appearances for Missouri based club St. Louis Scott Gallagher before leaving college. On January 11, 2022, the youngster was picked up by Columbus Crew in the MLS SuperDraft.
The 23-year-old featured 18 times for Crew’s MLS Next Pro side Columbus Crew 2 in 2022 and won the MLS Next Pro Goalkeeper of the Year award. He debuted for the senior team in February 2023 and has been a constant fixture for the MLS side ever since, having made 44 appearances and kept 12 clean sheets (stats via Transfermarkt).
As reported by The Telegraph, Arsenal are eyeing a move for Columbus Crew shot-stopper Patrick Schulte in the coming summer transfer window. The North Londoners are assessing potential options for the second-choice keeper should Aaron Ramsdale leave the club this summer.
Since the arrival of David Raya from Brentford last summer, Ramsdale has found himself pushed down the pecking order at the Emirates. The Spaniard has started in all games for Mikel Arteta’s side except the fixtures against his parent club. Raya is on loan but Arsenal have already initiated the process of making the transfer permanent.
Ramsdale is a quality goalkeeper and has great potential. Moreover, the English keeper wants to cement his place in the England national team. Therefore, he would more inclined towards leaving the Emirates and move to a club that is offering regular first-team football.

The American goalkeeper has been on the North London side’s radar for quite some time. The youngster recently made his international debut for the USMNT against Slovenia in January which certainly will have strengthened the Gunners’ interest even more.
The Gunners are looking to shore up all areas of the squad. Earlier, it was Jorginho’s contract extension and new deals for Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu. Now, the club are looking to bring in a potential replacement for Ramsdale by focusing on the promising goalkeeper.

Aaron Ramsdale will want a substantial amount of game-time going forward. Incase the North Londoners fail to provide him that, they need to bring in a suitable replacement who will play second fiddle to Raya while also being capable enough to fill in when the need arises.
There is no doubt that Patrick Schulte has great potential and could be the right fit for Arsenal. However, the 23-year-old goalkeeper will have to prove himself to be a worthy alternative to Raya, in the absence of the Spanish international.
