With just a month left in the summer transfer window to close, and even fewer days remaining for the Premier League season to kick-off, Arsenal have a host of signings lined up that they are trying to get over the line. The Gunners have already signed Ben White, Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga and have also announced new long term deals for Kieran Tierney and Emile Smith Rowe ahead of the new season.

The North London club have been linked to several different players this summer and trying to complete transfer deals for a goalkeepera central midfielder and a right-back as they aim to secure European football next season.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein provided details on the possible new arrivals at the Emirates. While speaking to Sky Sports, he revealed:

It’s going to be busy at Arsenal until the end of the transfer window.

“They’re still looking for a goalkeeper [and] a number 10 player. We’ve talked many times about Martin Odegaard…

“There have been rumours around James Maddison. That’s [not] one I can see developing. It would be a huge stretch of Arsenal’s finances. I don’t think it’s realistic with Smith Rowe signing a new contract.

“There is reported interest on The Athletic in [Tammy] Abraham from Chelsea as a potential loan option. I don’t know if that would need a departure to facilitate.

“They might need a new right-back if Hector Bellerin leaves. There is [also] interest in a deep-lying midfield like Ruben Neves like a lot of us have reported.”

It is no secret that Arsenal are after midfielders this season, especially an attacking midfielder and a deep-lying midfielder. It makes sense as Torreira is set to leave permanently, while Ceballos and Odegaard chose not to extend their loan deals at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, it is now being reported that Arsenal are preparing a new deal for Granit Xhaka after Roma failed to make a suitable offer. Even if Xhaka extends his contract, Arsenal still need an attacking midfielder, with Smith Rowe being the only creative midfielder in their current squad.

James Maddison has been linked to Arsenal all summer and the Leicester City player could be the perfect signing to bolster Arteta’s squad for the next season. Ruben Neves ticks all the boxes for the Gunners, but they would have to battle Manchester United for his signature. Both the players are ambitious and have Premier League experience, but could prove difficult to complete due to monetary issues.

Hector Bellerin is one player who is garnering interest from other clubs. It certainly makes sense to sign a right-back in case he leaves, as Arsenal cannot rely on Soares for the entire season. A young and cheap right-back could give some competition to Soares for playing time.

Meanwhile, the North London club have already decided to part ways with Runarsson and therefore, they are after a backup goalkeeper, with strong links to Aaron Ramsdale. Rumours surrounding Tammy Abraham have also been circling, but nothing to confirm any genuine interest from Arsenal.

Among all the options discussed by Ornstein, a goalkeeper is certain to arrive at the Emirates. It would be interesting to see if Edu can convince Maddison or Neves to join Arsenal, as right now they seem to be a very far-fetched option. Nonetheless, Arsenal fans can definitely expect at least three more signings before the end of the summer transfer window.
