“He played with the national team too much” – Emery Provides Injury Update On Ramsey And His Thoughts On Ozil Making His Point

Emery on training and Xhaka

The Arsenal manager, Unai Emery was on cloud nine after 2 back to back away wins. After the win over Newcastle United, the Gunners seem to have got their machinery oiled and working at full capacity. Emery at the conference, after the clash against the Magpies looked very optimistic about the team and it’s players.

No matter what is your opinion on him, you have to agree that Emery has a flair in press conferences. He seems to be like a genie in a bottle tantalizing the press with simple but dubious answers to very pressing questions. Love him or hate him, you can’t just ignore the Spaniard. It was a calm on our nerves to see the reportedly strained relationship between Emery and Ozil making positive progress at today’s press conference.

“Every player is the same. Today I am happy, Mesut scored which is important. He continues his process on the team, helping with his quality.”

Emery said in the post match interview.

Frankly, seeing them making bridges was more sweeter to the fans than the 2-1 win in St.James Park. Ozil was all the more deserving for the praise. After a mediocre and loose play in the first half, the entire team got their chemistry back and went all in.

Ozil saw the net once with a quick shot after hitting Lacazette’s deflected ball past the goalkeeper in the second half. Ozil too had some kind words for Emery after his 200th appearance for Arsenal.

‘I am very happy to play for Arsenal and especially for the new coach.”

“He knows what he wants and the team accepts that, we have a good relationship. We score and we are happy, even the players that don’t play, we are all team.”

Ozil told Xhaka to take the free kick from 25 yards which punched the net in the top right corner, textbook style. Altogether, Ozil is happy and so is Emery; and every Gooner is a lot more happier.

In other news our Welsh man, Aaron Ramsey allegedly has some issues after he was subbed by Emery for Welbeck with ten minutes left in play. Here’s what Emery had to say about the Welsh International in the post match interview.

“He played with the national team too much”

“Today he played 80 minutes and he asked to change. I don’t think it was not a big problem, but he was tired.”

This would be a direct reference to the hectic International break week for which he was called up for the clash against Denmark and Iceland.

This may sound weird with the consideration of the fact that he played for full 90 minutes for his national team in both the matches. It could perhaps be an injury or some fitness issue or maybe he was plainly tired; either way his presence would be vital in the UEFA Europa League for which Emery has some bold plans. These include bringing in Leno and maybe a change in the regular 4-2-3-1 formation.

With all said there was another angry baby in the camp; the frowny face of Aubameyang after being subbed. Aubameyang was subbed in the 69th minute, Mhikitaryan replacing him which was the second substitution of the game, first being Torriera replacing Guendouzi and the final one was Welbeck replacing Ramsey in the last 10 minutes of the game.

This is what Emery had to said about the win in the post match interview.

“The first half we couldn’t control the match like we wanted. We need to impose our ideas, but we conceded a lot of chances for the counter attack.”

“The second half, the balance on the pitch was better. We didn’t concede the transition as easy.
The key was the first goal, it gave us the confidence to improve on the match.

The bottom line is that it was a bittersweet weekend building up for the excitement ahead of the Europa League fixture with Vorskla on Friday.
