A Fight to Protect Reputation | 4-3-3 With Ronaldo, Varane & Rashford – Predicted Lineup | How Would Man United’s Starting XI Look Like Against Brentford

Manchester United vs Brentford, Man United vs Brentford

Manchester United host newly-promoted Brentford on Monday as the Red Devils look to improve their points tally heading into the final few weeks of the season. Having gained a valuable point against Chelsea last Thursday, Ralf Rangnick’s side will be looking to build upon their performance ahead of a significant summer for the club.

With Manchester United least likely to qualify for top-four whilst hopes for Europa League football also expected to diminish, provided they fail to acquire points over the remaining games, a favourable tie against Brentford provides the hosts with an opportunity to end the season on a positive note.

Although Rangnick remains without the services of several key players ahead of the tie, having shown an iota of promise over the last two fixtures, the Red Devils will be expected to register only their second win in over three Premier League outings on Monday.

With injuries likely to impede their prospects over the remainder of the season, United remain without the services of Harry Maguire, Edinson Cavani, Luke Shaw, and Paul Pogba for the tie against Brentford. The likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Fred, and Jesse Lingard are expected to return to the match-day squad while Jadon Sancho’s availability remains uncertain, with the youngster likely to miss out on the remainder of the campaign.

Manchester United Starting Line-Up Against Brentford

Goalkeeper

David De Gea (GK): A significant part of the United dressing room, De Gea remains the team’s most notable performer this season. Having delivered substantial contributions despite the team’s collective lack of application on the pitch, the Spaniard will be hoping to end his season with a handful of clean sheets over the remaining fixtures.

Defenders

Diogo Dalot (RB): Amongst a handful of promising performers this season, Dalot is likely to remain a core part of the team next season. Having shown palpable desire and effort on the pitch, the full-back will be hoping to deliver a slew of notable performances over the coming weeks.

Victor Lindelof (RCB): With Maguire unlikely to return to the starting line-up, Lindelof will be looking to deliver an impressive performance on Monday. Having been amongst the team’s better-performing defenders this season, the Swedish international will be looking to retain his place in the starting line-up over the remaining fixtures.

Raphael Varane (LCB): A significant part of United’s backline, Varane will be hoping for an increase in clean sheets moving into the final few weeks of the season. Although having been sidelined with injuries on several occasions, the Frenchman remains an untenable part of the team’s potential to improve over the remainder of the season.

Alex Telles (LB): A notable display saw Telles significantly contribute to the team’s result against Chelsea last week. Having shown a potential to improve, the Brazilian will be keen on improving his contributions moving forward.

Midfielders

Nemanja Matic (CDM): United’s most impressive player in recent weeks, Matic is expected to remain a part of the starting line-up until the end of the campaign. Having improved the team’s transitions and defensive foundation, the Serbian has proven to be a vital cog in Rangnick’s tactical set-up in recent weeks.

Scott McTominay (CM): With the team short on options in midfield, McTominay is expected to remain in the starting line-up over the coming weeks. Having failed to routinely deliver consistent performances, the Scotsman will be keen on delivering notable contributions moving forward.

Bruno Fernandes (CAM): Having continually delivered indisciplined performances, Fernandes remains amongst the team’s handful of liabilities in recent weeks. Yet to display a promising improvement in his overall game, it remains to be seen if the midfielder redeems himself over the coming weeks.

Forwards

Anthony Elanga (RW): Expected to remain a part of the starting lineup moving forward, Elanga will be keen on improving his goal-contributions over the remaining fixtures. Having been amongst the team’s promising performers, the youngster will be looking to develop his overall attributes under the incoming management.
