According to latest reports, Nottingham Forest have signed goalkeeper Matt Turner from Arsenal. The American shot-stopper had limited chances at the Emirates last campaign, playing only a back-up role and was eager to play in the first-team.
The 2023-24 Premier League campaign has kicked off and the clubs are busy giving final touches to their squad. The North London side have had new additions in different departments, with the Emirates Stadium ready to host the UEFA Champions League this season.
As reported by the Guardian, Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of USA International Matt Turner, who has played 32 times for the National team. The shot-stopper joins Steve Cooper’s side in a £10m deal and has signed a four-year deal with the club.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta was ready to let the backup goalkeeper depart, with the club set bringing in a replacement in David Raya who will compete alongside Aaron Ramsdale. Meanwhile, Forest were in dire need of a quality goalkeeper, having availed the services of Manchester United’s Dean Henderson on a loan spell last season.
Forest have Ethan Horvath in their squad, but after his successful loan spell with Luton Town last season – which saw them get promoted to the Premier League – he could be on the move. Matt Turner moving to Nottingham Forest is going to be a great move for both the club and the player.

Letting Turner leave and bringing in Raya would be a huge upgrade for Arsenal. With the Spaniard’s experience in the Premier League, it would be a healthy competition between him and Ramsdale for the starting spot in the team. This in turn would be beneficial for the club, as they aim to do well in the league again as well as in the Champions League.
