Spain vs Morocco : What to Expect, Key Players Who will make a Difference and How the Teams will Line up

spain vs morocco, group B world cup, spain vs morocco predicted line ups, spain , morocco

It’s the start of a new week but we shall witness some Monday Madness tonight as the group stage draws to a close for the members of Groups A and B with our focus here on the Spain vs Morocco fixture.

Spain will be eyeing for a point in their final Group B game to see themselves into the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2018 as they take on Morocco on Monday, while Portugal take on Iran hoping to secure a point to qualify.

The Group B is still wide open as Spain, Portugal and Iran, all three are competing to sneak into the top 2 spots making this Spain vs Morocco fixture quite essential for Spain’s hopes of qualifying to the next round.

Spain, are coming from a hard fought 1-0 win over  the resilient Iran only after drawing 3-3 against Portugal in the opening game of the Group B clash where they played good attacking football only to settle for a point in the end, but are favourites to win in the Spain vs Morocco clash tonight.

On the other hand, Morocco are playing for pride as they are yet to even open their goal account. They might consider themselves unlucky at most times as they lost to Iran and Portugal only by a one goal margin, but they have played well and have shown the potential that they possess and will be raring to go all guns blazing against in the Spain vs Morocco clash.

Head to Head:

Both these teams have met twice before with Spain winning 1-0 and 3-2. Also one needs to note Spain have won three out of four games against African Oppositions.

Spain:

La Roja haven’t had the best of world cup’s so far as they have won and drawn one in their 2 games. They showed promise in their attack against Portugal only to witness Cristiano Ronaldo’s supreme hattrick which led to an exciting encounter but ultimately no team could benefit from it. Spain need atleast a draw against Morocco to ensure they don’t sweat on the result of the other game, and qualify for the next round.

Diego Costa, Isco, Andres Iniesta and other stars will need to make sure their team is over the line in the Spain vs Morocco clash.

Key Players for Spain vs Morocco Clash (Spain) :

Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid):

The forward has scored 3 goals in 2 games in this competition with his latest goal ensuring his team took all 3 points against the Iranian Defense. He was fortunate with his goal on the day but his presence constantly troubled defenders.

He will need to keep his run going against Morocco as well, as he establishes himself the leader of the La Roja attack.

David De Gea (Manchester United):

The United stopper has recovered from his opening game shocker against Portugal and will be ready for the game as he needs to guard his goal when his team step on the pitch in search of a point.

It will be important to see how he fares against the Moroccan attackers who are yet to score and will be throwing their all at him in tonight’s Spain vs Morocco clash.

Predicted Lineup:

Morocco:

The lads from North Africa have nothing to play for in tonight’s clash and will be playing for pride. But they can certainly spoil the world cup favourites’ party by beating them in what will be a shock result for all football faithfuls.

They were beaten by Iran and Portugal earlier and both games finished 1-0 against the Moroccans which on another day could have gone otherwise, and they will be out there to atleast pickup something positive from the Spain vs Morocco game.

Key Players for Spain vs Morocco Clash (Morocco):

Hakim Ziyach (Ajax):

The Ajax playmaker is extremely important to Morocco and their chances of getting their first world cup win.

He is a talented and strong midfielder who has been generally deployed in a much deeper role and has flourished and can certainly trouble the Spaniards.

Achraf Hakimi (Real Madrid) :

Achraf Hakimi made his senior Real Madrid debut earlier this season and has proven himself a more than able substitute for Dani Carvajal when the Spaniard has been absent. It will take a strong performance from the youngster on the day as he faces Spain in an all important Spain vs Morocco clash .

Predicted Lineup:

Predictions for Spain vs Morocco:

Even though Spain are not at their best at the moment, but they will be too much for the Moroccans, who are struggling in the tournament.

I believe Spain will seal their spot in the knockout stages with a comfortable 2-0 victory in the Spain vs Morocco clash with Diego Costa amongst those on the scoresheet.
