Morrow, who started at the Arsenal academy himself, started his footballing career in 1987 as a midfielder after being loaned out to various clubs for first-team experience and established himself in the senior team in 1992.
Morrow went on to win the UEFA’s winner cup with Arsenal, defeating Parma in the process after leaving the Gunners again for loan to Queens Park Rangers, making his move permanent an year after.
Previously the Gunners were linked with Monchi. The Spaniard performed a fabulous role at Sevilla before moving to AS Roma. After his departure from Roma, he was strongly tipped to be a hot favorite for the position. A turn of events saw the Spaniard return to his old club and Arsenal were left with limited options. Morrow, currently the Head of Youth Scouting is touted to be the next sporting director.
Monchi’s decision to join Sevilla from 1st April indicates that Steve Morrow is most likely to be appointed. Although not a much heard name, Morrow is working with the Gunners since 2008 and knows the club through and through being an ex-player. Arsenal might try to play it safe here by promoting Morrow to the Director seat as he has the relevant experience in that field.
Arsenal should make either Steve Morrow or Francis Cagigao the technical director now that Monchi has returned to Sevilla & Overmars is staying at Ajax. Both Morrow & Cagigao are unsung heroes behind the scenes at Arsenal

The clubs recruitment policy and player contracts are in a huge pile of mess since Arsene Wenger’s departure. Aaron Ramsey is leaving on a free transfer, Mesut Ozil’s situation is a mess. The club’s position in the League is dicey, chances of winning the Europa League look slim after shock defeats and Morrow will look to fix all the issues for the betterment of the club.
There is no guarantee that the club can survive without major signings. Given the current situation of the club, it is susceptible whether big guns will agree to join the club that is currently in shambles. Hopefully, Marrow brings about a positive change in transfer dealings.
Steve Morrow, 48, will now take on a role alongside scout Francis Cagigao who is also set for a bigger role behind the scenes. The duo will form part of a three-man team with Arsenal still looking for an external candidate who will become the sporting director. (Mirror) #AFC

In spite of all the above, nothing will really change for Arsenal unless they splash the cash and spend it wisely. New signings and contract upgrades are the need of the hour. Unless the owners and the board are willing to spend heavily the new appointments are just a mere formality.
