Unai Emery’s men mere knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Tottenham Hotspur yesterday in the 2 unrealized goals scored in each half.
Strikes from young lad Dele Alli and South Korean sensation Heung-Min Son corroborated the differences as Spurs prevailed 0-2 at the Emirates. The result sees Arsenal lose two matches in a row after their 3-2 loss against Southampton at the St. Mary Stadium.
This match has made evident Arsenal’s weaknesses as the season continues to take shape in the days ahead. On this note, we evaluate three takeaways from Arsenal’s 0-2 defeat to North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal Were Wasteful Against Tottenham Hotspur
Arsenal’s against Southampton at the meek end, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, had a good chance early on in the first half, but the Armenian star shot straight at the goalkeeper. Thus, fluffed the chance in the process.

The likes of Aaron Ramsey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all came close to openings but all of it ended up in a nearly equivalent scenario.
The host has themselves to blame after they dominate Tottenham Hotspur in the infield statistics. Their inability to take their chances resulted in a dismal outcome as the visitors (Spurs) won 0-2 on the night.
One Trophy Gone
The Gunners still have the opportunity to compete in three competitions this season notably the Premier league, the Europe League and the FA Cup. However, they are eliminated from the Carabao Cup for yet another season not winning the cup for 26 years now.

This reflects the level of Arsenal showings in recent times as they seem to crack when it matters the most. At the end of the 90 minute duration, it’s Tottenham Hotspur who go there in contention for the Carabao Cup trophy while Arsenal exits unceremoniously in front of their home fans.
Spurs Gets Revenge
Spurs might have won 2-0 away from home thanks to efforts from Alli (Dele) and Heung-Main (Son). However the real gist is that the North London side might have paid back Arsenal at their own turf for the 4-2 defeat few days ago in the Premier League.
The level of rivalry that exists among both the teams was evident out on the pitch as Tottenham Hotspur took the match to Gunners at the Emirates but at the end, it’s Spurs who go home smiling as they exert revenge on Arsenal.
Arsenal next face Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday in the 18th round of games.
