Major Team News And Injury Update | Bournemouth Vs Manchester United Match Preview

Bournemouth Vs Manchester United, Bournemouth

Manchester United will be seeking for a win when they visit Vitality Stadium on Saturday for the Bournemouth Vs Manchester United tie. The Reds are unbeaten since the last international break and have won two of their previous three Premier League games against Newcastle and Everton at home and nearly winning at Chelsea before Ross Barkley scored a late equaliser for the hosts at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Red Devils definitely have a tough task ahead of them at Bournemouth with the Cherries also unbeaten in their last three Premier League outings.

Although, record shows Manchester United have an upper hand but, the recent performances and the league begs begs to differ. Eddie Howe’s team stands two places and three points ahead of United, who linger at a lowly 8th position.

Moreover, looking at Bournemouth’s impressive start to the season notifies of their performances with 9 wins in 13 games in all competitions including 3 in their last 4 Premier League games. So, a win for Bournemouth will not be such an upset staring at United’s current show.

Here everything you need to know ahead of the Bournemouth Vs Manchester United game…

Team News For Bournemouth Vs Manchester United Clash:

Manchester United

Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard are in contention to start in the Bournemouth Vs Manchester United game after returning to full fitness from injury.

As reported by United boss Jose Mourinho, both the players are ready for first team action and have improved their fitness in training. Mourinho told MUTV:

“Jesse and Alexis are in a much better position than last week because last week was an effort from them to be available to help the team.”

“But now it is a different story. Now, Alexis and Lingard after one good week with the team, they are ready to play, really.”

Both were on the bench for last week’s Everton clash with Lingard coming on in the 95th minute, but neither of the players were fully fit.

However, Diogo Dalot and Marouane Fellaini will miss the Bournemouth Vs Manchester United tie from injuries sustained during the international break while club captain Antonio Valencia remains sidelined due to a knee injury with no surety of his return.

Mourinho said:

“The only one that went one step behind was Antonio Valencia with some problem in his knee”

Overall, Mourinho was pleased with the training and efforts put in by players. Mourinho was quoted as saying:

“A very good week,”

“We work tactically, we improve some fitness levels. We improve some of the players that were almost there but not there – Lingard, Alexis – these kind of players, that were already available but not yet at a good level. We trained with our kids too, mixed with us on one of the days, which is an amazing feeling for them. A good week.”

Meanwhile, the manager provided no update on Phil Jones.

Simon Francis, Bournemouth captain remains a doubt for the Bournemouth Vs Manchester United game with the defender nursing a groin injury. Though, no scans have revealed of no serious damage, but Howe will make a late decision on his captain.

Anyway, Norwegian forward Joshua King, former Manchester United player, will remain absent due an ankle injury.

Overall Record Of The Bournemouth Vs Manchester United clash:

The Red Devils have quite an impressive record against the Cherries with 9 wins, 3 loses and 2 draws in a total of 14 games in all competitions.

The record in the Premier League era is even better, with 4 wins in 6 games having lost only once. The defeat came in December 2015, at the Vitality Stadium when the Cherries beat United 2-1.

In last season, United completed a league double over Bournemouth with a 1-0 win at Old Trafford and a 2-0 win at Bournemouth back in April.

Opta Stats:

  • Bournemouth are unbeaten in six Premier League home games (W4 D2), with their last defeat at the Vitality Stadium coming against Manchester United in April (0-2).
  • Eddie Howe’s side have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three Premier League games – they’ve never done so in four consecutively in the top-flight.
  • United have won just two of their last seven away Premier League games (W2 D2 L3). In their 10 Premier League games this season, Man Utd have conceded 17 goals and kept just one clean sheet; after 10 games last term, they’d conceded just four goals and kept eight clean sheets.
  • Man Utd’s Anthony Martial has scored in each of his last three Premier League games (4 goals in total) – he’s never scored in four in a row in the competition.
  • Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson has been directly involved in nine goals in 10 Premier League games this season (5 goals, 4 assists) – just one fewer than he was in 28 games last term (8 goals, 2 assists).

Although, it seems to be a walk in the park for Manchester United, as a team of United’s caliber is always expected to win, it may not be so in case of Bournemouth, especially given their current performances.

And, given United is not the same as it was, any kind of a result is possible.

Nonetheless, a win is the only thought that comes to my mind being a Red Devil myself. Hope the result goes in our favour.
