The European transfer window has closed, Manchester United have failed to sign Sancho and several positions in their squad need reinforcements. There’s still time to salvage themselves and sign some players, however. As described by Sky Sports:
“A domestic transfer window between Premier League and EFL clubs remains open until October 16.”
To sum up, Manchester United can’t sign players from fellow Premier League clubs but can sign players from the Championship, League One, League Two, or free agents. Here are four players Manchester United should take a look at and consider seriously.
David Brooks:
David Brooks is a player who ticks all the boxes for Manchester United’s rebuilding project and being a Welshman, he certainly falls into the category of United’s recent focus on British players such as Harry Maguire, Daniel James, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Brooks is a highly versatile young player who is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder as well as a right-winger (a position currently required to be filled in for the Red Devils). A regular for the Bournemouth side (when fit), he can grow and prosper at Manchester United.
Although he might not be the flashiest option when compared to the likes of Jadon Sancho or Gareth Bale, he’s a sensible and practical transfer target for them, the sort of player Manchester United should be after.
Ismaila Sarr:
Manchester United have been increasingly linked with a transfer for the 22-year-old Watford winger and for good reason. In a Watford side which was relegated last season, Sarr was the shining star. During his time at Watford, the Senegalese winger has put up pretty decent numbers in terms of goals and assists.

At 22-years of age, there is a lot of room for improvement. Moreover, if the Red Devils decide to pursue Sarr, not only will it be an addition to the almost absent right-wing, but Sarr’s potential transfer will also bring added quality and depth to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Joe Rodon:
Joe Rodon is a 22-year-old centre-back currently plying his trade at Championship side Swansea City. Having impressed with Swansea, the Welshman is being touted for big things and his performances have drawn comparisons with John Terry.
However, he won’t come easy with some Premier League clubs targeting him including Tottenham Hotspur, who are in talks with Swansea City for the defender. Manchester United have to fight should they decide to pursue Rodon and with a rumoured value of around £7m to £18m, there’s no reason why Manchester United shouldn’t be on the lookout for yet another young British talent to add to their ranks.

An alternative to Joe Rodon is Watford centre-back Craig Dawson, but West Ham have confirmed the signing of the versatile defender on a season-long loan.
Antonio Valencia:
An out of the box option but there’s a strong case for re-signing Antonio Valencia, who is currently a free agent. Following the 6-1 humiliation to Tottenham, the Manchester United side have been called out as “spineless”, “no desire” and “no passion” by supporters and pundits alike.
If the Red Devils re-signed Antonio Valencia, it would certainly have a tremendous backroom presence. He’s a winner, a former player who loves the club and could perform a job on the pitch if needed. Being a natural leader, the 35-year-old can certainly influence the dressing room and he would be a cheap backup. Could we see a possible return?

What are your thoughts on these four available options? Only time will tell how successful the signings of Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani be at Manchester United, but they have limited time to make new additions with the EFL transfer window closing on 16th.
