According to reports in France, Premier League giants Manchester United have recently shown interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes in this summer transfer window. The Red Devils are said to have enquired about a move for the Argentinian star.
As Erik ten Hag starts his reign at Old Trafford, he is first seeking to add depth to United’s midfield, with Barcelona’s versatile midfielder, Frenkie de Jong, being his top summer transfer target. However, following the departures of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba after the expiry of their contracts, Ten Hag is further keen on rebuilding the heart of his squad.
According to French publication L’Equipe (via Metro), Manchester United launched an enquiry about a possible move for PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes. The Red Devils have asked the French champions about a deal to bring the 28-year-old to the Old Trafford this summer.
PSG are looking to make major changes to their squad and Paredes is among the players the club are willing to sell this summer. However, the Ligue 1 side are only willing to settle for the right price, and given that the Argentinian international still has two more years left on his current contract, the French club have set an asking price of €35 million.
However, the price tag set by Les Parisiens has put off the Red Devils and they have abruptly backed out of negotiations. It seems rather difficult to estimate whether the Manchester club will return to the negotiation table with an offer.
Manchester United have enquired about Leandro Paredes, but are not prepared to meet Paris Saint-Germain's valuation.

Leandro Paredes joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 from Zenit Saint Petersburg, but has failed to cement his spot in the starting XI. The 28-year-old made just 15 Ligue 1 appearances and featured in only 22 games across all competitions in the recently concluded season, while scoring once and assisting twice (stats via Transfermarkt).

PSG, who favoured the services of Danilo Pereira, Marco Verratti, Georginio Wijnaldum, Idrissa Gueye, and Ander Herrera in the central midfield, have certainly deemed the former AS Roma midfielder not that important to their plans and have repeatedly ignored him, pushing him down the pecking order.
Earlier, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly noted to be making inquiries for the Argentinian player. However, as of now, it is Manchester United who have emerged as potential suitors for Leandro Paredes, but the price tag is making it difficult for the negotiations to progress. On the contrary, the Ligue 1 champions are determined to get the best offer for the players they are willing to offload this summer.
