Manchester United “Progressing in Direct Contacts” to Sign Highly Rated £50m Midfielder; Fabrizio Romano Report

Eduardo Camavinga United Contact made Fabrizio Romano report

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are making headway on securing their latest transfer target, Eduardo Camavinga. The Italian journalist recently revealed that Rennes are open to negotiating the French starlet for just €30 million (£25.7 million).

In what could be the bargain of the summer for the Red Devils, Rennes have expressed interest in negotiating a deal at almost half of what they seemed to be demanding at the start of the window.

United are fresh off the boat from securing a move for Jadon Sancho. They look set on continuing their aggressive run in the transfer market this summer with Camavinga’s transfer. The English club failed to sign him last summer but are confident this time.

The player has just one year remaining on his contract and has refused a renewal at the club. This is likely what sparked the price drop, as Rennes would want to cash in on the player this season rather than loosing him on a free next summer.

Eduardo Camavinga is one of the most talented and highly coveted starlets in Europe at the moment. The 18-year-old midfielder is already a regular starter at Stade Rennais, boasting 82 first-team appearances to his name. He can play in all areas of the box and he is an asset to any team he plays for. The Frenchman already has senior international caps at such a young age and even managed to score on his debut. Camavinga has also recently received praise for his performances from international teammate and Man Utd star Paul Pogba who has compared him to an young Kylian Mbappe.

Stade Rennais have recently stated that a transfer move for Camavinga is ‘inevitable’, according to reports in French outlet, Le Parisien. This is a huge boost for United in their attempt to get this deal over the line. However, this could also attract other developments, as PSG and Arsenal have already stated initial interest in the player. Romano also included PSG’s interest in his tweet apart from confirming United’s progress and the possible transfer fee.

‘Manchester United are progressing in direct contacts to sign Eduardo Camavinga.’

‘Rennes would be open to negotiate on potential €30m fee – as they’d lose Camavinga for free next summer.’

‘He’s one of Man Utd long term targets – PSG have always been interested too.’

Moreover, Mohamed Bouhafsi of RMC Sports also reported that Camavinga prefers PSG, as he would like to stay in France.

Despite this, United are intent on signing the Frenchman and seem like the clear front runners at the moment as PSG are still yet to make a bid. The €30 million (£25m) potential fee, stated by Romano, is a bargain compared to previous price tags. Rennais’ asking price for Camavinga was £60 million last summer.

If this isn’t enough, last week, a mammoth asking price of €100 million (£86m) was reported as a likely transfer fee that the french club where demanding. Time seems to of the essence here and United need to make a move at the earliest before a host of other clubs start lining up for the 18 year-old.

Camavinga would truly be a great signing for any top club, and Manchester United are no exception. The English club could really use a quality player like the youngster to spark their midfield even further and line up along side Bruno and Pogba.

Alternatively, with Paul Pogba’s future at Manchester United uncertain, Camavinga could be the answer to be the long term replacement and carry on the mantle from one frenchman to another. The player would be a great long-term investment for the club if he does join. He certainly has the requisite talent and skill to be worthy of becoming the engine that drives a team like Manchester United forward for years.

The arrival of Jadon Sancho and the presence of French players like Pogba, Martial and Varane as a potential transfer could attract Camavinga to arrive at Old Trafford. Fingers crossed for how this one turns out !!
