According to latest reports, Arsenal assistant manager Carlos Cuesta is being targeted by Norwich City for the manager’s job next season. The Canaries are looking to part ways with current coach David Wagner and have identified the Spaniard as a likely candidate to replace him.

Carlos began coaching at the age of 18 at Atletico Madrid. He joined the Los Colchoneros as the assistant manager for the under-17 youth team. He worked there until 2018 before he moved to Italy and joined Juventus as assistant manager.

In 2020, he left Juventus to join the North London side and since then, he has been working at the club under the mentorship of manager Mikel Arteta. The Mallorca-born has spent 9 years reading, and analyzing European football while working as an assistant manager.

As per the Guardian, Championship side Norwich City are considering Arsenal assistant coach Carlos Cuesta as an appropriate candidate to replace current manager David Wagner. The report also suggests that other Championship sides are also taking an interest in him.

The 28-year-old is rated as one of the most talented young coaches across the world. Having spent four years at the Emirates, he could be presented with an opportunity to be a full-time senior team coach, his first senior managerial role. He is capable of speaking six languages which will help him in communication and man-management.

As per the report, Ben Knapper, the Sporting Director of Norwich City is seeking to offer Carlos Cuesta the manager’s post at the end of the season. Knapper was the loan manager at Arsenal before moving to Carrow Road in November 2023.

Both Carlos and Ben worked together at Arsenal and built a strong relationship. It’s important to note that Knapper has worked at Arsenal for 14 years, so he knows almost everything about the club. This is why it is easy for him to approach the young man for the managerial job.

Now, it would be interesting to know whether Carlos Cuesta is interested in joining Norwich City or not. Moreover, the North London side are expected to fend off any approach for the Spaniard. He is one of Arteta’s closest confidantes, helping him transform the Gunners into title contenders.

Besides competition from fellow clubs, the Canaries also have the challenge of matching his salary. It has already been reported that the club is facing a financial crisis. They are spending hardly any money on new signings. So, if they are interested in Cuesta, it means it’s quite crucial for them.
