4-3-3 With Pogba, Lindelof & Sancho – Team News & Predicted Line-Up | How United’s Starting XI Would Look Like Against Norwich City

Marcus Rashford, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham

We look at the Manchester United line-up as they host relegation battling Norwich City. The Red Devils are looking to win their first game in three outings on Saturday. Having failed to gain confidence in their application and desire on the pitch following their disappointing European loss to Atletico Madrid last month, United will be looking to salvage a Europa League spot as hopes for top-four continue diminishing owing to the team’s apathetic performances every weekend.

Further, with numerous injuries likely to plague their prospects for European football, altogether, over the remainder of the season, Ralf Rangnick will be keen on extracting favourable results moving forward. The imminent announcement of Erik Ten Hag as the club’s new manager – starting next season – could potentially thrust the players into delivering decent performances, however, given the team’s underlying insouciance towards the club’s results on the pitch, another poor result could potentially be on the cards for the Red Devils on Saturday.

A long list of injuries could potentially hinder the team’s prospects over the coming fixtures. Luke Shaw remains unlikely to feature for the remaining fixtures having undergone surgery on his ankle, while the likes of Edinson Cavani, Raphael Varane, Fred, and Scott McTominay miss out due to injury for the game on Saturday. Rangnick could potentially hand out substitute appearances to a couple of youth players against Norwich although the German tactician will be hoping to wrap up the three points before their introduction on the pitch at Old Trafford.

Manchester United Starting Line-up Against Norwich City

Goalkeeper

David De Gea (GK)

United’s most reliable player this season, De Gea is expected to remain between the sticks for the remainder of United’s fixtures this season. With an opportunity to keep a clean sheet against Norwich, the Spaniard will be keen on delivering a compelling performance on Saturday.

Defenders

Diogo Dalot (RB)

Amongst the team’s more reliable defenders, Dalot continues delivering decent performances on the pitch. However, with much room for improvement in his promising attributes, the full-back will be looking to justify his place in the starting line-up over the coming weeks.

Victor Lindelof (RCB)

Enduring a challenging spell of form on the pitch, Lindelof will be looking to return to his best in a bid to retain his place at centre-back over the coming fixtures. With Varane likely to miss out on a couple of fixtures, the Swedish international is likely to emerge as a critical component of United’s prospects over the remainder of the season.

Harry Maguire (LCB)

Having, arguably, delivered a relatively decent performance against Everton, Maguire is expected to retain his place in the starting line-up on Saturday. However, having yet to justify his selection in the starting line-up, the centre-back remains a distasteful addition to the XI every weekend.

Alex Telles (LB)

With Luke Shaw unlikely to return for the remainder of the season, Telles is likely to be granted a run of games until the end of the ongoing campaign. Having yet to deliver consistent performances, the Brazilian full-back will be keen on contributing to the team’s prospects over the coming weeks.

Midfielders

Nemanja Matic (CDM)

With both Fred and Scott McTominay out for the game against Norwich, Matic is likely to retain his place in the midfield. Although expected to leave the club in the summer, the Serbian will be keen on delivering impactful performances over the coming weeks.

Paul Pogba (CM)

Another of United’s big names expected to leave on a free this summer, Pogba will be keen on attracting potential suitors over the coming weeks. Having delivered inconsistent performances in recent weeks, the Frenchman will be keen on ending his stint with United on a high over the coming weeks.

Bruno Fernandes (CAM)

Although having delivered indisciplined performances in recent weeks, Fernandes remains United’s most likely prospect of improving their points tally over the coming weeks. Having been the team’s most impactful player since his arrival at the club, the midfielder will be keen on galvanising his teammates in securing a European spot for next season.

Forwards

Marcus Rashford (RW)

Having delivered a relatively energetic display against Everton last weekend, Rashford is likely to retain his place in the starting line-up against Norwich on Saturday. Although regarded amongst the vastly underperforming players at the club this season, the winger will be looking to redeem himself over the coming weeks.

Jadon Sancho (LW)

Having struggled for form in recent outings, Sancho will be keen on returning to his best over the remainder of the season. Amongst the team’s most promising prospects, the youngster will be looking to help the club secure a European spot at the end of the campaign.

Cristiano Ronaldo (ST)

Amongst the victims of the team’s inability to create goal-scoring opportunities, Ronaldo will be keen on European football next season. Having failed to have the impact that many of the club’s fans expected following his arrival, the striker is likely to assess his situation at United at the end of the campaign.

Score Prediction: Manchester United 1-1 Norwich City
