Huge News| United Stalwart Fancies A New Two-Year Deal At The Club

Ashley Young, Ashley Young contract extension

Ashley Young is one of the few regular starters for Manchester United under Mourinho in recent times. The 33-year-old recently captained his side in a 1-0 loss at home to Juventus in the Champions league. Jose Mourinho, for the first time in 46 games, named an unchanged lineup for United after their 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Ashley Young is currently one of the oldest players in the Manchester United squad after he joined the club in 2011 from Aston Villa. The England International is on a payroll of £130,000-per-week at Old Trafford and his contract expires next summer after the Red Devils triggered his one-year contract extension in March.

Young has made a total of 210 appearances and has served playing in a multifarious number of positions for United be it as a winger, wing-back or full-back. Nowadays, featuring as a right full-back under boss Jose Mourinho, he seeks to consolidate his position in the first team with a new two-year deal at the club. The English player has served as a captain for the club time and again with Pogba and Mourinho’s relationship under recent jeopardy.

Moreover, Young has delivered for the club whenever required, be it in any position. Originally starting as a left-winger while playing under Sir Alex Ferguson, he has agreed to get adjusted to any spot and fill in any void left vacant due to injury to another player or some other reason. Even now, he fills in for club captain Antonio Valencia.

However, with 11 players getting out of contract for United next summer including the likes of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Anthony Martial and David De Gea, it remains to be seen whether Ashley Young makes the cut or not.

Which is why, Young is eager to sign a contract extension of two more seasons and extend his stay at Old Trafford to a decade as reported by the Mirror.

Ashley Young was eager to take positives from their performance against Juventus, while talking to reporters after captaining the match.

“Its disappointing obviously loosing a goal in a way we did. I think we had a spell in the first half where we got on top and especially in the second half, we were on the front foot.”

“It’s another one of those days where the ball just wouldn’t go in.But I felt with the way we played, especially in the second half, if we had got a goal out of it, got a draw of it, it would have maybe justified the way we started the second half.”

With just 1 win in previous 7 games for United, they play Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday in a do-or-die match for Mourinho and his men.
