‘Manchester United Looking to Make a Further Double Signing after Completing Varane Transfer And These Are The Two Players Next in Line

Saul Niguez, Kieran Trippier, United Summer Transfer Window

It’s finally over, Manchester United have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for World Cup-winning defender Raphael Varane. A deal has been agreed in principle between the teams, the final announcement is awaited subject to a medical and finalising player terms. However, as far as transfer deals are concerned, things are far from over for United in this summer window.

The deal for Varane is reported to be around £34m, which could rise to £42m, with the French defender agreeing to a four-year contract. Now, the Red Devils are looking to make a further double signing of Atletico Madrid duo Saul Niguez, and Kieran Trippier, according to reports.

Manchester United are in desperate need of a quality midfielder and signing a DM has been one of the top priorities of the summer transfer window. The likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Ruben Neves, and Declan Rice have all been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but recent reports claim that the Red Devils could make a move for Saul Niguez.

Saul has been linked with United on several occasions in the past, but this time the transfer seems more probable as the player has also expressed his desire to leave Wanda Metropolitano. However, the Red Devils will face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool who are also interested in signing the midfielder.

With Pogba being touted to leave Old Trafford this summer linking him with a move to PSG, the Spaniard could be the perfect replacement for the former Juventus man. Even if Pogba stays and signs a new contract, Saul’s versatility could easily help him fit into the defensive midfield role for the team.

On the other hand, the Red Devils want to bring in a cover for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and have chosen Kieran Trippier as the ideal option. The English full-back completed two years with the Rojiblancos and has won the LaLiga title last season.

Trippier wants a move back to England and is keen to play in the Premier League once again. Trippier has been a key player for Diego Simeonè’s side as well as the Three Lions. Manchester United have looked weak on the right flank in AWB’s absence and Trippier’s experience, along with his great defending and attacking skills, would add depth to the squad.

The Express reported that United are looking to sign both Trippier and Saul in the summer transfer window as soon as the Varane deal is concluded. With the Varane deal almost done, Ole has now set his sights on the Atletico Madrid duo.

However, for the deal to happen, Atletico would have to reduce their £34 million price tag for Trippier. Furthermore, the Spanish side could accept a £45 million offer for the 26-year-old midfielder with the central midfielder eager to leave and the club are eager to purge the midfielder from their wage bill.

Saul Niguez is a prolific midfielder and is one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the game. Though the pace and style of play in England may vary from Spain, he can adapt to the Premier League pretty fast, given his versatility. He can easily fit into the single-pivot role in Ole’s new 4-3-3 formation, having played in several positions for Simeone.

As for Trippier, he would not have any problems fitting into the Premier League given his time at Tottenham before he joined the Rojiblancos in 2019. Moreover, the right-back would bring excellent competition for Wan-Bissaka, who has shown some weakness going forward on the flanks. Trippier has excellent ball-playing abilities and he is a constant threat on the right flank with his blistering runs of attack.

Both the players are first-team starters for the LaLiga side and were hugely influential for the team’s title triumph last season. The duo could have an immediate impact upon arrival at Old Trafford. They would add much-needed quality and competition to their respective positions.

If all the pending bids come to fruition, Manchester United could realistically challenge for the Premier League title next season against the likes of City, Liverpool and Chelsea. This summer transfer window is certainly giving the United fans something exciting to look forward to.
