A £60m valuation has been slapped by Daniel Levy for the player, if you believe reports according to the Mirror in the UK.After playing hardball over Alderweireld, Levy looks to have finally given in. United on the other hand have also been linked to Diego Godin according to Sky.
Manchester United edging closer to deal for Toby Alderweireld. Have offered £40m, and believe that should be enough. Suggestion Mourinho wants a second centre half, Yerry Mina still on radar though Everton in pole position. #MUFC

But among all the rumours floating around this deal looks to have excited United fans. Ed Woodward is fighting round the clock to get his man. There are no doubts that Alderweireld has been one of the most consistent and reliable defenders in England ever since his loan move to Southampton from Atletico Madrid in 2014.
£60m is nothing for a player of his calibre considering Man City paid £57m for Aymeric Laporte who isn’t even capped by France. Also considering the fact that Liverpool paid a world record £75m ( for a Centre back) during the January transfer window, makes £60m for Alderweireld a schrewd piece of Business.
Toby Alderweireld would be a defensive Robin van Persie for #MUFC: an experienced player who could fit right in and help to immediately deliver a title. There is still time, but #MUFC dithering and leaving it very late now…

Alderweireld is coming on the back on an Excellent World Cup campaign in Russia where he was a major influence on the Belgian Side that Romped to 3rd place in the Competition.Highlight of the Campaign being Alderweireld’s last ditch Goal line clearance denying Eric Dier an Equaliser against England in thr 3rd place play off.
This deal is a must for United who are struggling to find a perfect partner for Eric Bailly in the Heart of United’s defence.Manchester United have reportedly bid £40m for Alderweireld, £20m short of Tottenham’s asking price. What’s working in United’s favour is willingness of the player to move to Old Trafford where he can take his career to the next level & compete for trophies on all fronts .
Toby Alderweireld has rejected the opportunity to sign a new deal and he ‘absolutely wants to leave’. Spurs want €65m. #mufc [HLN via Sports Witness]

Tottenham on the other hand could be tempted to sell Alderweireld because of his unwillingness to sign a new deal which could see him leave Spurs for Free soon. And with Tottenham’s New Stadium on the verge of completion and reports suggesting that costs have exceeded expectations (one of the major reasons Spurs haven’t signed anybody yet.) Tottenham could bow down to United’s bid for the player.
All things considered Alderweireld will be an excellent signing for United, provided they go through with it. The only barrier is the time. The window closes soon and if United are to topple City for the title , they need to sign Alderweireld.[ajax_load_more post_type=”post” posts_per_page=”2″ category=”manu” max_pages=”2″]
