After his star performances for Colombia in the 2018 Fifa World Cup, the Barcelona man Yerry Mina has caught the eye of many of Europe’s top clubs including Manchester United, Lyon and Everton and now it seems United have something to say about it.

The centre-half was signed by the Catalan Giants in January 2018 from Palmeiras for 11.8 million but since then he has managed to make just 6 appearances. However after his impressive World Cup campaign with Colombia in which he scored 3 goals in 3 appearances including one against England in the round of 16 tie many clubs eye him as a player with great potential. A superb campaign has seen an uplift in his price tag and Barcelona value Yerry Mina at 35m.

Manchester United identified Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and Belgium’s Toby Alderweirald as the ideal signing for their defense but are unwilling to meet the asking prices of 65m and 70m from their respective clubs and believe Yerry Mina ,who has emerged at the top of their wishlist could be a bargain signing at just 35m. Harry Maguire is poised to sign a new deal with Leicester City who never intended to sell their star defender.

Following Manchester United’s 4-1 defeat to Liverpool in their Internation Champions Cup friendly Jose Mourinho told reporters :
[spacer height=”20px”]
“I would like to have two more players. I think I am not going to get two.
[spacer height=”20px”]
“I think that it’s possible I will have one. And that one, I gave a list to my club of five names a few months ago. And I wait to see if it’s possible to have one of these players.
[spacer height=”20px”]“If it’s possible. it’s possible, if it’s not it’s not. If it’s possible, it’s good, if not then we keep fighting and working and believing in the players that we have.”

Former Palmeiras defender Yerry Mina has laid down hints on his social media by following Manchester United on Instagram and reports claim that he has erased FC Barcelona from his profile.

Yerry Mina told Bocas Magazine :
[spacer height=”20px”]
“In terms of my future, I have no idea but I’m calm about it,”
[spacer height=”20px”]
“I’m 23 years old and have a lot of football left to play.”

Since securing the services of Fred, Dalot and Lee Grant, The Red Devils have had an unusually quiet transfer window. Fred is expected to play a major role in the first team but Dalot and Grant will serve as potential backups. Jose Mourinho handed in a transfer list of 5 targets which included the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Gareth Bale, Fred/Savic, Alex Sandro/ Kieran Tierney and Willian but The Red Devils have failed to reach any deals except for capturing Fred.

Manchester United officials have flown to Spain in order to finalize a strike a deal for the defender. If the transfer is to go through, it will open the door for Marcos Rojo to move to Everton. Chris Smalling and Phil Jones’ future will also remain in doubt if Yerry Mina signs alongside Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof who is set to stay. The Red Devils are also yet to resolve the Martial dilemma and the fans clearly don’t want their talented French international to leave.

Personally speaking I ,just like most of the fans feel that Yerry Mina is no good compared to the current Manchester United defenders and we should not sign him. The Red Devils should go in and make one last attempt for Willian and also try to lure an experienced and proven centre back in the form of Toby Alderweireld to Old Trafford.

Really like Harry Maguire, but Manchester United need a wise head in the centre of their defence. A player like Toby Alderweireld should always be the priority. He might be older, but Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelöf need that experience beside them.
