Despite Disappointing Against Liverpool, Here Are The Four Arsenal Players Who Will be Crucial For Securing Champions League Football This Season

Smith Rowe, Saka, Arsenal

This game week after the international break presented bad news for all the Arsenal fans. After an unbeaten run of eight league matches, the Gunners fell short against Liverpool, losing 4-0 at Anfield. Despite this result, ex-Arsenal hero Jack Wilshere firmly believes the club has a ‘real chance’ to achieve top four this season. According to reports, Securing Champions League football could depend heavily upon four Arsenal players.

After the defeat against Jurgen Klopp’s side on Saturday, Arsenal sit fifth in the table. But they should back themselves to qualify for Champions League next season. West Ham currently sit at fourth position, while Wolves and Tottenham are one point behind them. But Arsenal’s toughest competition for the last Champions League place is definitely Manchester United. The Red Devils currently occupy the eighth position, after the 4-1 thrashing against Watford.

This dismal performance of United led to the sacking of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Their squad is undoubtedly one of the best and therefore with the right manager, they could easily climb up the table and challenge Arsenal for the fourth position.

Here are the four Arsenal players who will be crucial for Arteta to secure the premium European Competition.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not having the best of seasons so far. The 32-year-old forward has scored four league goals and has one assist. However, the Gabonese striker has faced difficulty against the top Premier League teams. He did score against Tottenham in the derby win, but his other goals have come against Norwich, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa. If Arteta’s men want to secure the fourth position ahead of United, Aubameyang will need to be more frequent on the scoresheet, especially against the big teams.

Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka has not had the best of form since his dismal penalty miss at this summer’s Euro 2020 final. He has just scored a single goal and has two assists in twelve appearances.

However, it is known that on his day, he can dismantle any top team and win games on his own. The fact that, at the age of 20, the young winger is considered a key Arsenal player is a huge testament to his talent. If he can contribute more as the season progresses, then he can be one of the main man under Arteta.

Emile Smith Rowe

Emile Smith Rowe has been the brightest star in the Gunners attack this season. Before making his England debut during this international break, the 21-year-old had a streak of scoring in three consecutive games. Clearly, Arteta now considers him an important player and the fans would hope he continues his good form.

Ben White

Ben White played just one game when Arsenal lost their first three league fixtures. The 24-year-old English defender has since then played nine more games, where the Gunners kept five clean sheets.

The arrival of the trio of White, Ramsdale and Tomiyasu has clearly strengthened the Gunners’ defence. The former Brighton defender needs to continue his good work at the back if Arteta wants to bring back Champions League at the Emirates.
