A Dominating Display Tightened Their Grip on CL Qualification | Player Ratings – Man United vs Brentford

A dominating display saw Man United end their three-game winless run in the Premier League on Wednesday as the Red Devils secured a 1-0 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford. Excellent in their application across the pitch, Erik Ten Hag’s side will be keen on building on the momentum moving forward as they aim to cement their place in the top four over the coming weeks.

A boisterous start to the first half saw the hosts impose themselves on the opposition. Compelling in their tactical execution on the pitch, a proactive approach resulted in the home side breaking the deadlock in the 27th minute through Marcus Rashford’s sublime strike following a corner routine, before moving into the break.

However, despite keeping the pressure on the opposition in the second half, unable to maintain control of the game, United struggled to cope with the Bees’ search for an equaliser on Wednesday. Nevertheless, having remained competitive in their defensive performance, the hosts emerged victorious on the evening as they continue their quest for the top-four moving into the busy end of the campaign.

Lisandro Martinez (LCB) – 7/10: An imposing presence at the back, Martinez had a positive impact on Wednesday. With the Argentinian key to the team’s defensive organisation, the centre-back will look to remain consistent over the remainder of the season.

Luke Shaw (LB) – 6/10: Despite having been substituted before half-time owing to an injury, Shaw delivered a notable display against Thomas Frank’s side. With his availability in the near future, the left-back will be keen on making a quick recovery from injury over the coming weeks.

Marcel Sabitzer (RCM) – 7/10: A positive presence in midfield, Sabitzer delivered a notable performance against the Bees. Having shown impressive attributes on the pitch, the Austrian will look to remain consistent in his displays over the coming fixtures.

Bruno Fernandes (LCM) – 6/10: Decent in possession, Fernandes ensured United remain organised across the pitch against Brentford. Although having struggled to make the best of goal-scoring opportunities, the midfielder remained amongst the bright sparks for United on Wednesday.
