Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag insists Marcus Rashford will stay at United despite his agent and brother meeting with Paris Saint-Germain. Marcus Rashford is the talk of the town at the moment as the Erik ten Hag era has started disastrously at Old Trafford.
Rashford started United’s opening game of the 2022/23 season against Brighton & Hove Albion but was unable to find the net as the Red Devils were beaten 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Everybody thought Rashford would be the torch-bearer of the next Manchester United generation after he scored the last-minute penalty which eliminated PSG from the Champions League in 2018. Since then, he has become a player of interest for the French champions.

Amongst the team’s most scathed players last season, Rashford found himself being held accountable for his substandard performances on numerous occasions. He lacked the application, consistency and desire to nail down a spot in the starting XI, contributing only five goals and two assists in 32 appearances across all competitions (stats via Transfermarkt).
Rashford, 24, has one year left on his contract at United with an option to extend it for another season that the club alone can trigger, meaning in effect, he has two years remaining.
United Career
Rashford is from Manchester and came through the United youth system. Every supporter knows that a player who can do that is a bit special. So, to see his time at Old Trafford now seemingly coming to some sort of end marks the closing of a chapter that could have ended very differently.
Marcus Rashford has made 305 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 93 goals and assisting 57 times so far in his football career (stats via Transfermarkt).
While primarily introduced to serve as a traditional winger, Rashford’s underlying numbers from notable seasons suggest that the forward performs best when deployed as a second forward playing off the central striker.
The Englishman is known for his ability to make searing runs into the box whilst also serving as a potent threat on the counter-attack. However, following the arrivals of Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo, combined with the inconsistency of Anthony Martial, Rashford unsurprisingly found himself struggling to create for the team’s central strikers.
For a player known for his ability to take on defenders before aiming for a goal, he has faced a lack of players to combine with. His failure to adapt to his surroundings has also impacted his performance negatively, which also is down to his lack of creativity in the final third. He failed to develop into a well-rounded forward following his breakthrough into the first team under former United manager, Louis van Gaal.
Erik ten Hag announces that Marcus Rashford won’t join PSG: “Rashford is really important, you have seen from the first day – I'm really happy with him and definitely don't want to lose him”. 🚨🔴 #MUFC

Ten Hag insists Rashford is important to the team and the forward is in his plans. Rashford has started both of United’s Premier League games but has been appalling in his attacking display. United are yet to score a goal while they have conceded 5, and unbelievably, they are at the bottom of the Premier League, with Liverpool coming up next.
