Manchester United are interested in the possibility of signing Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, according to reports.
Following the departure of Ander Herrera, whose contract at United expired this summer, the club have been keeping tabs on several potential replacements who can fill the void in midfield. United already have the likes of Andreas Pereira, Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic fighting for two available spots next to Paul Pogba, while James Garner will hope to finally have his breakthrough in the upcoming season.
That might not be able to happen though, should a new midfielder join this summer. Ndombele is a magnificent young prospect at 22 years of age. It comes as no surprise then, that United are embroiled in a four-way duel for him, with the likes of Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain all keen on the Lyon starlet.
Tottenham have already made an approach for Ndombele. The club are reportedly preparing a huge bid worth around £60 million and are eager to get him following Christian Eriksen’s admission that he might look for a new challenge this summer.

United do have the financial muscle to ward off Spurs, but a move for the young Frenchman will depend on whether or not they sign some of their other targets. The club have also been linked to Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes, as well as Adrien Rabiot who is a free agent. Reports in The Independent suggest that these two players are viewed as ‘tmore gettable options’. United will probably work on those deals and should a failure to agree terms take place, they might revive their interest in Ndombele.
Solskjaer will be desperate to get his campaign off and running in the best possible manner. United face Chelsea on opening day and with the Blues having a transfer ban, losing Eden Hazard and potentially Maurizio Sarri as well, the Reds will be looking to get off the mark in style. The manager knows he will need a few more signings in this window if he is to have any chance of guiding United back to the top four next season.
